He must have done something right, because he made it through. They said he “battled back” in the repechage. Whatever that means, it sounds impressive. He must have been really determined to get to Paris.

Then I got curious about the guy himself. Where’s he from? What’s his story? Turns out, he was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Never been there, but I hear it’s nice. Then he moved to Benton, Pennsylvania, when he was a kid. He went to Line Mountain Jr./Sr. High School. Just a regular small-town guy, it seems.
But then he became a big deal in wrestling at Penn State. They call it the Nittany Lions, which sounds fierce. He must have been a star there to make it all the way to the Olympics.
I also saw someone calling him the “Wisconsin native,” so I guess he’s still connected to his roots. It’s cool that he’s representing the USA Wrestling team. Big responsibility, but it seems like he’s up for the challenge.
