Why say i just felt like running? Understanding Forrest Gumps simple reason.

Must read

You know, sometimes things just hit you. Today, out of the blue, i just felt like running. Didn’t have a plan, wasn’t training for anything. Just this sudden urge. Weird, right?

Getting myself out the door

So, I figured, why not? It’s been a while. A long while, actually. Had to rummage around to find my gear. It wasn’t pretty.

  • Found my old running shoes. Still holding together, mostly.
  • Grabbed a pair of shorts that looked comfy enough.
  • Pulled on an old t-shirt. Nothing fancy.

Didn’t bother with music or anything. Just wanted to… well, run. Tied up the laces, took a breath, and headed out the front door. Simple as that. Didn’t even stretch much, probably should have, but eh.

Hitting the Pavement

Stepped outside. Air felt okay, not too hot, not too cold. Started off with a bit of a walk, just to get the legs moving. Then, eased into a slow jog. Felt kinda heavy at first, you know? Like my feet were stuck to the ground.

Decided to just go around the neighborhood loop. Nothing crazy. Passed Mrs. Henderson’s garden, saw a cat dart across the road. The usual stuff. My breathing started getting heavier pretty quick. Definitely out of shape. No surprise there.

There was this one bit, going up that small hill near the park. Man, my legs were screaming. Thought about stopping, walking the rest of the way. But then I thought, nah, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Slowed down a lot, but kept jogging. Felt like a win, getting to the top without walking.

Wrapping it up

Did one loop, maybe a bit more. Wasn’t timing it, wasn’t counting miles. Just ran until I felt like stopping. Which came sooner than I’d like to admit, haha.

Slowed down to a walk for the last block back to my place. Legs felt a bit like jelly. Got inside, grabbed some water. Felt pretty knackered, sweating quite a bit.

But you know what? It felt… good. Cleared my head a bit. Just that simple act of moving, getting the heart pumping. Didn’t solve any world problems, but for a little while, it was just me and the road. Sometimes, that’s all you need. Just felt like running, so I did. That’s the whole story.
