Alright, so I got this idea the other day. I just felt like I had to make some fan art of Ronaldo. It’s been a hot minute since I really sat down and tried to draw something, you know, properly.
So, first thing, I grabbed my trusty old pencils and a clean sheet of paper. The usual suspects. For a good few minutes, I just kinda stared at that blank page. That feeling, right? Like, where do I even start? I was thinking, what kind of pose? He’s got so many. The big celebration? Or maybe something more focused?
Then I remembered seeing some stuff about Alejandro Garnacho, that young fella at Man Utd. He’s a massive Ronaldo fan, apparently, always trying to be like him. It’s pretty cool to see that, how one guy can inspire so many, especially the next generation. Made me think about Ronaldo’s own journey, starting so young with such a passion for football.
Anyway, I finally put pencil to paper. Started sketching, super rough at first. Just trying to get the basic shape of him, the proportions. My early lines are always a bit all over the place. It’s part of the process, I guess. Then I began to slowly build it up.
Getting his face right, now that was a proper challenge. Seriously. I must have spent ages just trying to get the likeness. His eyes, the expression – it’s gotta feel like Ronaldo, otherwise, what’s the point?
While I was deep in it, shading and trying to get the details, I couldn’t help but think about all the stuff he’s achieved. Like, five Ballon d’Or awards. That’s just nuts when you really think about it. And all those Champions League wins. The guy just performs when the pressure is on, a true big match player. It’s kind of inspiring, even when you’re just drawing.
I read somewhere that when he was a kid, he’d just be out in the streets playing football until it got dark. That raw passion from such a young age, that’s something else. You don’t get to be one of the best in the world without that kind of fire inside you.
The jersey, oh man, the jersey. Trying to get the folds and the texture to look somewhat realistic, that took a bit of patience. Little details can make a big difference, or totally ruin it. There was this one section, around the shoulder, I think I erased and redid it about three or four times. So frustrating when it’s not looking how you want it in your head!
I almost messed up the hair pretty bad at one point. Had to carefully work back from that. But eventually, I got to a stage where I could step back and think, “Yeah, okay, this is looking alright.” It’s not gonna hang in a museum or anything, but for fan art, done by yours truly, I was pretty chuffed with it.
It’s pretty wild to think he has something like 900 million followers. That’s not just being a popular footballer; that’s being a global icon. People just love to see what he does, on and off the pitch.
So yeah, that was my little adventure into making some Ronaldo fan art. Felt good to actually finish something I started, and just get lost in the drawing for a bit. Maybe I’ll tackle another player next, who knows!
