Why everyones excited for the new s2000 concept (A peek at its fresh look and awesome tech)

Must read

Alright, so I figured I’d share a little something I’ve been tinkering with. You know how it is, sometimes an idea just pops into your head and you gotta run with it. This time, it was all about imagining a new S2000.

Getting Started with the Idea

I’ve always, and I mean always, loved the original S2000. It’s just one of those cars, you know? Pure driving. So, I was looking at some of the new car designs coming out, and honestly, a lot of it just feels… well, a bit much. Too many gadgets, too much trying to be everything at once. I just thought, what if they made a new S2000 that stuck to the roots?

So, I grabbed some paper and a pencil. Nothing fancy, no super-pro design software at first. Just wanted to get some basic shapes down. I spent a good while just doodling, trying to remember what made the original so special to look at. That long hood, the short rear deck, the way it sat on the road. Real classic sports car stuff.

The Actual Process: Trying to Make it Real (on Paper)

The first few attempts? Honestly, pretty rough. Looked like a kid’s drawing. But I kept at it. I started thinking about the key things. The headlights were a big one. How do you make them modern but still give a nod to the original? Spent a lot of time on that. Wasted a fair bit of paper, let me tell you.

Then I moved on to the overall silhouette. I really wanted to keep that aggressive, planted look. Lowered it, played with the wheel arches. I wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, more like… evolve it, if that makes sense. I kept thinking, “This has to scream fun.” It’s not supposed to be a comfortable cruiser; it’s a weekend weapon.

I even found myself thinking about the interior, even though I was mostly sketching the outside. Just had to feel like a cockpit, you know? Simple, driver-focused. Not a giant screen taking up the whole dash.

Why I Even Bothered

Funny thing is, this whole project kinda came out of nowhere. I’d just finished up a pretty draining bit of work, real grind, you know? And I was feeling a bit burnt out. Needed something completely different. My old man, he used to say, “If you’re feeling stuck, go build something. Doesn’t matter what. Just use your hands and your head.” He was always fixing stuff, building little things in his shed. Never made much money from it, but he was always happy doing it.

So, I guess this S2000 thing was my version of that. Instead of just complaining that they don’t make cars like they used to, I thought, “Well, what would I want it to look like?” It was just for me, really. A way to switch off.

Refining and Getting Somewhere

I eventually did scan some of my better sketches and played around with them a bit on my computer. Just basic stuff, cleaning up lines, trying different colors. Nothing too professional, just enough to bring it to life a little more. I tried a few different front grille designs. Some were too generic, looked like any other car. Others were just… weird. Took a while to find something I felt was distinctly S2000 but also fresh.

There were definitely moments I thought, “This is way harder than it looks.” You change one curve, and it throws everything else off. It’s like a puzzle. But when a part finally clicked, it felt pretty good.

Here’s a rundown of what I really focused on:

  • The Proportions: Long hood, short deck, driver sitting almost over the rear axle. That was non-negotiable.
  • The Stance: Low and wide. Had to look like it was hugging the road.
  • The Face: Aggressive but not overdone. Modern headlights that hinted at the original.
  • Simplicity: Trying not to add too many fussy details or fake vents. Keep it clean.

Wrapping it Up (For Now)

So, after a fair bit of scribbling and tweaking, I got to a point where I looked at it and thought, “Yeah, that’s kind of it. That’s the spirit I was aiming for.” It’s not perfect, and I’m sure real car designers would pick it apart in seconds. But for a guy just messing around, I was pretty happy with the vibe.

It’s just a concept, a dream on paper. But it was a blast to do. Made me appreciate the original S2000 even more, actually. And it was good to just create something, you know? Just for the fun of it. Who knows, maybe Honda will surprise us all one day. But until then, I’ve got my sketches. And honestly, that’s pretty cool too.
