So, the other day, I got this random urge to figure out where they filmed Happy Gilmore’s grandma’s house. You know the one, the big place he had to win back. I’d just rewatched the movie, it still holds up, gets me laughing every time.

Anyway, I fired up my computer. My first step, pretty obvious, was just searching around online. I typed in things like “Happy Gilmore house location” and “grandma’s house Happy Gilmore filming”. You get a lot of noise doing that, tons of fan pages and random movie sites.
Found some folks saying it was in California, others mentioned somewhere else entirely. It got confusing pretty quick. You see all sorts of stuff, people arguing in old forum threads from like ten years ago. I spent a good chunk of time just sifting through guesses, really.
Digging a Little Deeper
I realized the generic searches weren’t cutting it. I started thinking about the movie’s look. It felt kinda green, lots of trees. That made me think maybe Canada? A lot of filming happens up there, cheaper I guess.
So, I changed my search tactics. Started looking for filming locations specifically in British Columbia for Adam Sandler movies around that time. That seemed more promising. I remember reading somewhere that a lot of his earlier stuff was shot near Vancouver.
- Tried searching “Adam Sandler movie locations Vancouver”.
- Looked for lists of movies filmed in specific Canadian towns.
- Scanned through behind-the-scenes trivia, sometimes they drop hints.
Finally, a lead! I saw a mention connecting the movie to Pitt Meadows, BC. That sounded right, it’s in the Vancouver area. So, I focused my search there.

Pinpointing the Place
Okay, knowing the town helped massively. I started using online maps, looking at satellite views of larger properties in Pitt Meadows. It’s a bit like detective work, you know? I grabbed some screenshots from the movie – the front of the house, the distinctive roof, the driveway area.
Then it was just a matter of virtual ‘driving around’ using street view and comparing the satellite images to my screenshots. Took a while, scrolling block by block. But then, bam! I saw it. That roofline is pretty unique. The layout of the property matched up perfectly with the scenes where Happy is practicing or when the movers are there.
It’s definitely there, nestled in Pitt Meadows. Still looks pretty much the same, too, which is cool. Obviously, it’s a private residence, so just looking via maps is the way to go.
So yeah, that was my little quest. Took a bit more effort than I thought it would, but it was satisfying to finally track it down. It’s funny how you get hooked on finding these little bits of movie trivia. Now I’m wondering about the golf course locations…
