Alright, so I finally made my way over to the New England Racing Museum not too long ago. Heard about it, figured I should see what’s what.

Getting there was easy enough, wasn’t too far off the main road. Pulled into the lot, plenty of space which is always nice. You know how some places are a nightmare for parking. This wasn’t.
First Look Inside
Walked in, paid the entry fee. Seemed reasonable. The place isn’t massive, you can tell that right away, but it felt packed, you know? Like they used every square inch they had. It smelled faintly of old cars and maybe a bit of polish. Not bad, kind of what you’d expect, really.
Started wandering around. They’ve got quite a mix of stuff. Lots of cars, obviously. Some looked pristine, like they just rolled off the line. Others looked like they’d been through a war, which I guess they kinda had, just on a track.
Stuff That Caught My Eye
- There was this one old midget racer, looked tiny but tough. You gotta respect the guys who drove those things.
- Saw a few motorcycles too. Not just pavement stuff, some dirt bikes that looked like they’d seen some serious mud.
- Lots of old photos and posters on the walls. Tells a story, you know? Seeing the old tracks, the crowds.
Taking it All In
I spent a good while just looking at the engines in some of these cars. Amazing how they crammed so much power into them back in the day. Different world from the computerised stuff you see now. Simpler, maybe? More raw, definitely.

There was a section with driver suits and helmets. Seeing how basic the safety gear used to be… makes you think. These guys were really brave, or maybe just crazy. Probably a bit of both.
It wasn’t too crowded when I went, which was good. Gave me space to just look without feeling rushed. A couple of other folks milling about, mostly older guys like me, probably remembering the good old days of racing.
Spent maybe an hour and a half, two hours in there? Took my time. Read some of the plaques, looked at the details on the cars. The floor was clean, place was well-lit. They seem to take good care of the collection.
Leaving Thoughts
So yeah, headed out after that. Felt like I got a good look at everything. It’s a solid little museum. If you’re into racing history, especially stuff from around this region, it’s worth the stop. Not flashy, but genuine. Just a straightforward place showing off some cool old machines and the stories behind them. Glad I went.
