Okay, so I got this idea in my head, wanted to make a picture of a classic 1950s car. You know the ones, big fins, lots of chrome. Didn’t have a real one handy, obviously.
First thing I did was fire up one of those image generation tools online. Seemed like the quickest way to get something going.
My first attempt was pretty basic. Just typed in something like ‘1950s style car’. Simple enough, right? Well, the results were… okay. Kinda generic. Got some cars, they looked old-ish, but nothing screamed ’50s vibe’ like I wanted. They were a bit bland.
So, I figured I needed to be more specific. Went back to the prompt box. This time, I tried adding more details. I thought about what makes those cars stand out.
- Added ‘classic American car’
- Put in ‘shiny chrome details’
- Specified ‘pastel blue color’ for one try, then ‘cherry red’ for another.
- Also tried adding ‘on a suburban street’ to give it some background.
- Mentioned ‘tailfins’ specifically because, you know, that’s key.
Ran the generator again with these more detailed prompts. That worked a lot better. Started getting images that actually looked the part. Got a few variations.
One of the cherry red ones looked pretty good. Had the big fins, the chrome grille, whitewall tires. Looked pretty much like what I was picturing. The lighting was decent too, looked like a sunny day.
Didn’t need to do much after that. Selected the best image from the batch. I looked it over, maybe zoomed in a bit. It was pretty much good to go straight out of the generator. Didn’t really mess with editing or filters. Just saved the file.
So yeah, that was the process. Bit of trial and error with the description, telling the machine exactly what I wanted. Took a few tries but got a decent 1950s car picture in the end. Pretty straightforward, really.
