Alright, so I heard about this Colorado Spring Game for 2024, and you know, the hype has been pretty wild. Figured I’d drag myself out there and see what all the noise was about. Not like I had a whole lot else planned, to be honest.
Getting Myself There
Decided to go, which was the first step. Then came the usual rigmarole of figuring out when to leave. You know how these things are, always a bit of a mess traffic-wise if you don’t time it right. Left what I thought was early, but still hit a bit of a slowdown getting closer to the stadium. Standard stuff, really. Parking was, well, parking. Found a spot eventually, paid the guy, and started the trek with everyone else.
The walk wasn’t too bad. Weather was decent, a bit of a chill in the air but the sun was out, so that was something. Lots of people decked out in black and gold, as you’d expect. You could feel that kind_of buzz, you know? That pre-game energy. Everyone seemed pretty pumped up.
Inside and The Game Itself
Getting into the stadium was smooth enough. Scanned my ticket, walked up the ramps. Found my section, then my seat. The place was filling up pretty good. It’s always interesting to see a stadium get packed for what’s essentially a practice game, but hey, people love their football.
The game started, and, well, it was a spring game. Lots of new faces, guys trying to make an impression. Some plays looked good, some were a bit sloppy. That’s what these things are for, right? To work out the kinks. I’m not gonna sit here and break down formations or anything, I just watch the game. It was football. Some cheering, some oohs and aahs. They ran some drills, did some scrimmage type stuff. It kept me occupied for a couple of hours.
One thing that always gets me at these events, though, isn’t so much the game itself, especially a spring one. It’s just watching people. Everyone’s an expert, you know? The guy next to me was practically coaching from the stands, yelling stuff that I’m pretty sure no one on the field could hear, or would listen to if they did. It’s kind of funny, actually.
My Big Takeaway (Sort Of)
So, what did I really get out of it? Well, I saw some football. That was the point, I guess. But here’s the thing that sticks with me from days like this, and it’s not always about the sport.
I remember getting a hot dog. Standard stadium fare. And the price, man. The price for a hot dog and a soda could feed a small family for a day back when I was a kid. It’s just how things are now, I suppose. Everything costs an arm and a leg. You go for the “experience,” they say. Part of that experience is apparently emptying your wallet for basic stuff. It’s not just this game, it’s everywhere. Concerts, movies, you name it. Sometimes I wonder if we’re all just paying for the privilege of being somewhere.
It reminds me of this one time, completely different thing, I went to this supposed “artisan” market. Paid fifteen bucks for a jar of jam that tasted like the stuff you get at the regular grocery store for three. But it had a fancy label and a little cloth hat on the lid. People buy into it. Maybe I bought into the spring game hype a little too.
Anyway, the game ended. People filed out. I walked back to my car, sat in a bit of traffic getting out, and drove home. It was a day out. Saw some football, saw some people, spent some money. That was the Colorado Spring Game 2024, from my seat. Would I go again? Eh, maybe. Depends on what else I got going on, I guess.
