Today, I wanted to talk about what I did on the third of December. I’ve been digging into what happened on this day throughout history. I mean, who knew so much stuff went down on this one day?
First, I started by just checking out some general history websites. I wanted to get a feel for the big events that happened on December 3rd. And boy, was I surprised. It is not just a few things, it is a whole bunch of stuff that happened.
Loads of Events
- I found that Illinois became a state on this day back in 1818. The twenty-first state of the United States, how about that?
- Then I read about the first regular census in Germany starting on December 3, 1834. Sounds kinda boring, but imagine how important that was at the time.
So, I spent a good chunk of my day just reading these little historical tidbits. I even stumbled upon some mentions of a poet named Seamus Heaney, but I did not really dive into that.
I kept a list of all these events, and it just grew and grew. It is crazy to think about all the different things that were happening on this same day, but in different years. Political stuff, cultural stuff, you name it. I was on the site, and I just got absorbed in it.
Honestly, I did not get around to doing much else today. I was just so fascinated by all this history stuff. It is like, you think you know a date, and then you find out there is this whole hidden world behind it. I realized that there are more than 258 events that were made this day in history.
I guess what I am trying to say is, sometimes it is cool to just take a day and learn something new. For me, today was all about December 3rd. It might seem random, but it was a really interesting way to spend my time. I am just glad I took the time to look into it, you know?
Anyway, that is pretty much my day in a nutshell. Just me, my computer, and a whole lot of history. I think I will do this more often, pick a date and see what I can find. It is like being a detective, but for history!
