They got these things called schedules, my grandson says. It’s all wrote down when the Tampa Bay Rays game starts. Sometimes it’s in the afternoon, sometimes it’s at night. Depends on the day, I reckon. That Rays game time changes a lot. Hard to keep up if you ask me. They got so many games!
This year, 2024, they play all the time. They even got games in the spring. Spring Training they call it. My grandson, he tells me all about it. He’s a smart one. The Rays schedule is packed!
Where Do They Play That Rays Game?
They got a place in Tampa Bay, I think. Never been there. Too far for this old lady. But they play there a lot. That’s their home game. Then they go to other places, playin’ other teams. It’s a whole thing.

- Sometimes they play later, like 6:40 p.m.
- Sometimes they even play at 7 p.m., like the Yankees game.
- They play on Thursday, Friday, any day really.
Why They Call ‘Em the Rays?
My grandson told me once. Something ’bout fish in the water near Tampa. Devil Rays, they used to call ’em. Now it’s just Rays. Don’t make much difference to me. Just a name, I reckon. It used to be a longer name, he said. Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Now it’s just Tampa Bay Rays. Easier to say, I guess.
They got a TV channel, too. Bally somethin’. Shows all the games. That’s where my grandson watches it all the time. He’s got it all figured out. Me, I just like seein’ him excited. This Bally Sports is the place to watch, I guess.
How Many Games Do They Play?
Lord, a whole bunch! Seems like they’re always playin’. My grandson says it’s a long season. Starts in the spring, goes all through the summer. They are always having a Rays game today or tomorrow! It’s a lot of games. They play on TV almost every day!
He says they got rivals, too. Teams they play a lot. Like that Guardians team. He says they play them on Thursday, September 12th. And the Padres, too. They play them on August 30th. At 6:50 p.m., he says. You can find all the Rays game results after, too.
Keepin’ Up With the Rays
It ain’t easy keepin’ track of all them games. But my grandson, he knows. He’s got it all figured out. He checks that schedule all the time. He’s a good boy. He tells me all about it. Even when it is a Rays game today or tomorrow.
They got these things on the internet, too. Websites, he calls ’em. You can find out anything there. When the Rays game starts, who they’re playin’, all of it. My grandson shows me sometimes. It’s a lot to take in. They even got a thing called Rays YouTube. I don’t know what that is, but he watches it. Also, these Rays podcasts. I don’t understand half of it, but he sure loves it.
They even sell tickets to the game, he tells me. You can go and watch them in person. He says people put down money to save their spot for next year, 2025. They call it a deposit. Secure your place in line, he says. They also got the Rays standings, whatever that is.
Just a Game, But It Makes Him Happy
I don’t know much ’bout baseball. But I know it makes my grandson happy. And that’s all that matters to me. So, if you want to know what time does the Rays game start, you better check that schedule. Or ask my grandson. He’ll tell ya.
