Alright, so I decided to try making those coco ball things the other day. Saw a picture somewhere, looked easy enough, you know? Figured it’d be a quick little project.
Getting the Stuff Together
First thing, had to rummage through the kitchen. Needed cocoa powder, obviously. Found some hiding at the back of the cupboard. Then some kind of biscuit or cookie – I just grabbed some plain digestives I had lying around. Needed butter, condensed milk… the usual suspects for these no-bake treats.
- Digestive biscuits (or whatever you got)
- Cocoa powder
- Condensed milk
- Butter
- Desiccated coconut (for rolling, optional but good)
Pretty simple list, really. Nothing too fancy.
Making the Mixture
So, I started by crushing the biscuits. Put them in a bag and just bashed them with a rolling pin. Made a bit of a mess, crumbs everywhere, but it worked. Got them down to a reasonably fine crumb. Poured those into a big bowl.
Then I chucked in the cocoa powder. Gave that a good stir to mix it with the biscuit crumbs. Looked pretty dry at this point.
Next up was the wet stuff. Melted the butter in a small pan. Didn’t take long. Poured the melted butter into the bowl. Then opened that can of condensed milk – sticky stuff, always gets on your fingers. Poured most of the can in. You gotta eyeball it a bit, don’t want it too wet or too dry.

Mixing it all up was the real work. Used a wooden spoon at first, then just got my hands in there. Felt kinda like making mud pies when I was a kid. You squish and squeeze until it all comes together into a dark, sticky lump. Had to add a splash more condensed milk ’cause it felt a bit crumbly.
Rolling Time
Once the mix felt right – sticky enough to hold shape but not so wet it wouldn’t roll – I started making the balls. Pinched off bits of the mixture, rolled them between my palms. Tried to make them roughly the same size, but who’s measuring? Some ended up bigger, some smaller. My hands were completely covered in chocolatey goo by the end.
Then, the coconut part. Spread the desiccated coconut on a plate. Took each sticky ball and rolled it around until it was coated. This made them less messy to handle, plus it looks nice.
Chilling and Eating
Lined them all up on a tray covered with baking paper. Stuck the whole tray in the fridge. The waiting is always the hardest part, right? Left them in there for a good hour or so, maybe longer. Just until they felt firm.
Finally pulled them out. They looked pretty decent, actually. Popped one in my mouth. Pretty darn good! Rich, chocolatey, nice texture from the biscuits and coconut. Not bad for just throwing a few things together. Definitely messy, but worth it. Made quite a few, so they lasted a couple of days. Simple stuff, really. Give it a go if you’ve got the ingredients. Easy peasy.
