Okay, so today I want to share a little adventure I had with something called “Remsen IA”. Now, I’m not a geography expert or anything, but I stumbled upon this place and thought it’d be cool to dig a little deeper. It all started when I was looking up some architecture stuff online – you know, just browsing, nothing serious. I came across these two guys, Sam Zeif and Spencer Fried, who started this thing called Remsen back in 2021. They met while studying architecture, which I thought was pretty neat.

Then my curiosity led me down this rabbit hole about a place also called Remsen, but this time it’s a town in Iowa. I was like, “Wait, what? There’s a place called Remsen too?” So, naturally, I had to find out more. Turns out, this town, Remsen, in Iowa, is named after some doctor named Remsen Smith. I’m not sure who he was, but it sounded important.
My next step was to check out what people were saying about this Remsen place.
- I found some reviews, like 19 of them. I think it was from some travel site, I don’t remember, about what to do there and stuff. Sounds like a small place, not a lot going on, but still interesting.
- Then I looked up the weather, because why not? I found a 10-day forecast for Remsen, IA, with all the highs and lows. It’s always good to be prepared, right? Even if you’re just virtually visiting.
While I was at it, I also looked up this other place nearby, Sioux City, IA. It’s right where Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota meet. This city is by the Missouri River, which is pretty cool. I bet there are a lot of stories to tell about that place.
Diving Deeper
And just when I thought I was done, I found another Remsen. This time it was a person, Ira Remsen. This guy was a chemist and a university president, and get this – he co-discovered saccharin! I didn’t expect to learn that. He studied at Columbia University, which is pretty fancy.
So, from just looking up some architecture stuff, I ended up learning about a town in Iowa, a chemist, and a bit about Sioux City. It’s amazing how one little search can lead to so many different things. I guess that’s the beauty of the internet, huh? You never know where you’ll end up. This whole experience really made my day, and I just had to share it with you all. It’s those unexpected journeys that make life interesting, right?
