Okay, so I wanted to figure out this whole “pog value” thing everyone keeps yelling about in Twitch chats. Seriously, every time someone does something cool in a game, chat explodes with “POG” or “POGGERS” or some other weird word. I felt like an old man yelling at clouds trying to get it.

My First Stumble Into This Mess
Started by just lurking in some big streamers’ chats. Noticed that whenever there was a crazy headshot, a ridiculous clutch play, or even just a dumb joke landing perfectly, folks spammed “POGGERS” or “PogU”. At first, I thought it was just random keysmash. Got confused between PogChamp, PogU, and Kappa – felt like learning another language. Accidentally typed “POG” during a boring farming moment in game and got mocked. Felt pretty dumb.
Trying to Piece It Together
Googled “what does pog mean twitch” like a total newbie. Found out it comes from some old card game thing? But clearly, that’s not why folks use it now. Realized it’s basically:
- Pog = Cool/Hype/Awesome
- Pog Value = How much hype something is worth. Like, scoring a goal? Low pog value. Scoring with a bicycle kick in the final minute? Max pog value!
Pretty much any emote starting with “Pog” = hype meter. Higher risk or surprise = higher pog value. Who knew?
Putting Theory to Test
Decided to try using it myself in a small streamer’s chat. Saw some rookie pull off a wild 1v3 comeback in Valorant. Typed “POGCHAMP! That was INSANE POG VALUE!”. Got spammed with hearts and PogChamp emotes. Actually felt like part of the crowd for once. Later, my buddy made a basic jump in Minecraft. Joked “uh… 2/10 pog value dude” and got a string of LUL emotes. Wasn’t winning any awards, but at least they laughed.

How My Brain Processes Pog Now
Started mentally rating everyday stuff too. Like:
- Getting a green light when you’re late? Medium pog value.
- Finding cash in old jeans? High pog value.
- Your phone surviving a 3-foot drop? POGCHAMP MAXIMUM VALUE.
It’s stupid, but weirdly useful as hype slang. Knowing the difference between PogU (shock) and Poggers (pure joy) keeps me from looking like an idiot in chat. Mostly. Still mix it up sometimes. But hey, if my clumsy self can get this dumb internet slang, anyone can.
