Alright, let’s talk about what I fiddled with today, this thing I’ve just been calling ‘jheh’ in my head. Wasn’t really a big project, more like trying to scratch an itch I had.
So, I started off thinking I needed a better way to handle some local files, nothing fancy, just organizing stuff better on my network drive. Heard about a few tools, and this one, well, let’s just call the whole effort ‘jheh’, seemed straightforward enough from what I read. People online made it sound like a breeze.
Getting Started
First thing, I went and grabbed the files needed. Download was quick, no issues there. Found the setup guide, looked like maybe five steps. Okay, I thought, I can handle five steps. Copied the files over to where they needed to be on my little server box. Ran the first command. Seemed okay. Progress bar moved, stuff happened. Good start.
Hitting the Snags
Then came the configuration part. This is where ‘jheh’ started to show its true colors. The guide said, ‘just point it to your directory’. Simple, right? Nope. It just wouldn’t see my main storage drive. Saw the system drive, sure, but that’s useless. I double-checked the path, typed it in manually, copy-pasted it, everything. Nada. Just kept saying ‘resource not found’ or some other unhelpful message.
I spent maybe an hour just on this. Seriously frustrating. Went digging online, found a few forum threads with people having similar issues. Their solutions were all over the place:

- Reinstall the whole thing (which I dreaded).
I decided to try editing the config file first. Found the file, opened it up. Looked like a bunch of nonsense, honestly. Changed the lines folks suggested, saved it, restarted the tool. Still nothing. Drive? What drive? ‘jheh’ didn’t know about it.
Trying Again (and Again)
Okay, deep breath. Tried changing permissions next, even though I didn’t like the idea. Followed some steps, checked again. Still blank. It was like the drive was invisible just to this one tool. Everything else on the server could see it fine.
At this point, I was just clicking around the interface, trying random settings. There weren’t many options, which made it even more confusing. How could something so simple be so stubborn?
The ‘Result’
After another chunk of time, messing with paths, trying different slashes (forward, backward, who knows?), it suddenly, kind of, half-worked. It listed the drive! Victory? Not really. It was super slow, and navigating folders felt like wading through mud. And for some reason, it still wouldn’t pick up all the file types correctly.
So, did ‘jheh’ succeed? Not in my book. It’s technically ‘running’, but it’s clumsy, unreliable, and doesn’t do the basic thing I wanted it to do properly. It was supposed to make things easier, but it just added a headache.
Ended up shutting it down. Sometimes simple is just better. Sticking with plain old network folders for now. They don’t look fancy, but they just work. This whole ‘jheh’ experiment? A good reminder that ‘simple’ tools can be the biggest time sinks. Oh well, you live and you learn, right?
