Putting Together Jack’s Philadelphia Menu
Alright, so I needed to get this menu sorted out, the one we’re calling “Jack’s Philadelphia Menu”. It wasn’t for anything too fancy, just needed something clear and simple for folks to look at. So, first thing I did, I just sat down with a pen and a pad of paper. Old school, you know?
Getting the Basics Down
I started jotting down all the stuff Jack actually makes. You gotta have the cheesesteaks, obviously. That went right at the top. Then the hoagies – Italian, turkey, the usual suspects. I thought about adding more, but decided to keep it focused. Less is more sometimes, right?
Then I listed out the sides:
- Fries, gotta have fries.
- Onion rings, maybe? Yeah, added those.
- Some kind of salad, just in case.
After that, I put down the basic drinks – soda, water. Didn’t need a novel, just the essentials.
Figuring Out Prices and Layout
Next up was pricing. This part took a bit of back-and-forth. I looked at what similar spots nearby were charging, didn’t want to be way off. Wrote down some numbers next to each item. Adjusted them a bit. Felt okay about it.
Then I moved over to the computer. Opened up a simple document, nothing complicated. Started typing everything in. I decided to make the item names bold so they’d stand out. Put the price right next to it. For the steaks and hoagies, I added a short line underneath, just mentioning what’s on them, like “Steak, onions, cheese wiz” or whatever.
Making it Look Decent
I played around with the layout for a bit. Centered “Jack’s Philadelphia Menu” at the top. Used some bullet points for the sides and drinks list, made it easier to read. I wasn’t trying to win any design awards, just needed it functional. Printed out a test copy. Looked alright on the screen, but seeing it on paper helped. Noticed a typo, fixed that quick. Adjusted some spacing so it didn’t look too cramped.
Finally, printed a few copies on some slightly heavier paper I had lying around. Looked pretty decent, totally usable. Job done. That’s basically how I put together Jack’s menu, step by step. Nothing magic, just getting it done.
