What can you do at San Diego Open 2023? (Explore the fun activities beyond the tennis matches!)

Must read

Alright, so I figured I’d jot down some thoughts on the San Diego Open 2023. Wasn’t really planning on going, to be honest. It just kinda happened. My neighbor said he had an extra pass, was going by himself otherwise, and asked if I wanted in. Weather was looking decent, and I hadn’t done much else that week, so I said, “Sure, why not?”

Getting Myself Over There

The day of, I just threw on some comfortable shoes – knew there’d be some walking. Getting to the place wasn’t too bad, traffic was lighter than I expected for a weekend. Finding a parking spot, though, that was the usual headache. You always end up miles away or paying some ridiculous fee. This time, it was a bit of both. But whatever, I was there.

First Look and What Went Down

Walking in, you could feel that buzz, you know? Lots of people milling about, food stalls smelling like fried everything, and the faint sound of the event in the background. I wasn’t there for anything specific, no favorite player or team I was dying to see. Just wanted to check it out.

We found a spot with a pretty good view after wandering a bit. Watched a couple of the early matches. It’s different when you’re right there. The speed of it all, the effort these folks put in – you don’t quite get that on a screen. Some real back-and-forth in one of the games, kept me interested. The crowd got loud a few times, which is always part of the fun, I guess.

  • The lines for drinks were insane. Waited a good ten minutes for a bottle of water. Classic.
  • Saw some folks really, really into it, decked out in gear, knowing all the stats. Then there were people like me, just kinda taking it all in.
  • The sun came out pretty strong later on. Should’ve brought a better hat, mine was pretty flimsy.

So, What’s The Big Deal?

Look, it was a day out. Did it blow my mind? Nah. Was it a good way to spend a few hours? Yeah, sure. I saw some impressive stuff, got out of the house. It’s one of those things you do, you experience it, and then you move on. I’m not gonna sit here and say it was life-altering or give you some deep analysis of the techniques I saw. That’s not me.

I just went, I saw, I had an okay time. That’s my record of it. Maybe if you’re a super-fan, it’s a whole different world. For me, it was just another Saturday, but with a bit more shouting and some decent athletic displays. No complaints, really. Just telling you how it went for me. That’s about it for the San Diego Open 2023 from my end.
