Watch Live! Your Guide to Simulcast Horse Racing Online.

Must read

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with watching horse races online, you know, the simulcast stuff. It’s pretty cool, but figuring it all out took a bit of doing. Here’s how it went down for me.

First, I had to find a place that even showed the races. I mean, it’s not like every website has this. I did some digging, asked around in a few online forums, and found a couple of sites that seemed legit.

Picking a Race

Once I had a site, I had to, well, pick a race! They had all these different tracks and times listed. It was a little overwhelming at first. I just wanted to see some horses run! I ended up picking one that was about to start, just to get a feel for things.

Getting the Stream Going

This part was a bit tricky. I clicked on the race I wanted, and…nothing. Just a blank screen. I messed around with my browser settings for a bit, made sure my Flash player was up to date (yeah, some of these sites are a little old-school). Finally, I got the video to load. Phew!

My first try watching the race.

  • Find a race.
  • Wait for a bit.
  • Stare a blank Screen.
  • Got it to load!

Actually Watching the Race

The video quality wasn’t amazing, to be honest. It was a little grainy and sometimes it would buffer, which was annoying. But hey, I was watching a horse race live, from my couch! I could see the horses, the jockeys, the whole shebang. It was pretty exciting, even if I didn’t have any money on the line.

Figuring Out the Betting (Optional)

Some of these sites also let you bet on the races. I’m not really a gambler, so I didn’t dive into that too much. But I did poke around the betting interface, just to see how it worked. It seemed pretty complicated, with all sorts of different bet types and odds. I’d definitely need to do some research before I put any real money down.

So, yeah, that was my experience with simulcast horse racing. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely fun. I think I’ll try it again sometime, maybe with a better internet connection and a little more knowledge about how it all works.
