Getting My Hands on That Malenia Statue

Alright, so let’s talk about this Malenia statue. You know, Malenia, Blade of Miquella? From Elden Ring? Yeah, her. Been obsessed with that game, and Malenia… well, she leaves an impression, doesn’t she? Beat her? Took me ages. Respect. Anyway, after sinking way too many hours into the Lands Between, I got this itch. I needed something cool on my shelf to remember the pain and glory.

So, I started looking. Just typed “Malenia statue Elden Ring” into the ol’ search bar. Man, tons of stuff popped up. Some looked kinda cheap, like knock-offs you’d get from a weird corner of the internet. Others? Super expensive, like, mortgage payment expensive. Collectors’ editions and stuff. Found the official Bandai Namco one, the fancy one that came with the Collector’s Edition of the game. Obviously, those were long gone or being sold for crazy money by scalpers. Annoying.

I spent a few evenings just browsing, comparing pictures, reading comments where I could find ’em. It’s tough, you know? You see a picture, it looks great, but you never know what you’ll actually get. Is it gonna be solid? Is the paint job gonna be sloppy? Always a gamble ordering stuff like this online.

Finding the One (Sort Of)

Eventually, I stumbled upon one that looked decent. Not the crazy expensive official one, but not the super cheap plastic-looking things either. It was from some third-party maker, seemed like they specialized in game figures. The pictures looked promising. Showed good detail on the armor, the helmet, even the prosthetic arm. The price was… well, it wasn’t cheap, but it wasn’t insane either. Felt like a middle ground I could live with.

Pulled the trigger. Placed the order on some site that sells figures. Then the waiting game started. They said it’d take a few weeks, maybe longer, ’cause it was shipping from overseas. You know how it is. You check the tracking every day, even though you know it hasn’t updated. Then you forget for a few days, then you remember and check obsessively again.

The Arrival and Unboxing

Finally, the day came. Box arrived. Looked a bit beat up, typical international shipping treatment. Got a bit nervous, hoped Malenia wasn’t in pieces inside. Cut it open carefully. Lots of foam padding, which was good. Pulled out the parts. Usually these things come in a few pieces you gotta assemble.

  • The main body
  • The base
  • Her sword
  • Sometimes hands or head options, but this one was simpler.

First impressions? Okay, not bad. The size was pretty good, got some real weight to it, which I like. Didn’t feel like cheap hollow plastic. The pose was cool, kinda dynamic, like she’s ready to do that Waterfowl Dance nonsense.

Up Close and Personal

Put her together. Slotted the feet into the base, carefully attached the sword hand. Took a step back. Looked pretty damn cool from a distance. Then I got up close for the real inspection.

The details on the armor were mostly there. The helmet looked good. The paint… well, it wasn’t perfect. Some areas were a bit messy if you looked super close. Like, a tiny bit of gold paint where it shouldn’t be, or a line wasn’t quite crisp. But honestly? For the price I paid, compared to the official one’s cost? It was pretty decent. You’re not gonna get masterpiece quality unless you shell out big bucks, that’s just how it is. The face under the helmet was… eh, okay. Kinda generic, but it’s mostly covered anyway.

The base was simple, just some rock-like texture. Did the job.

Finding Her Spot

Now, where to put her? Cleared a space on my main shelf, next to some other game stuff. Had to rearrange things a bit. Stood her there. Yeah, looks good. Catches the light nicely. Every time I walk past, I get a little Elden Ring flashback. Mostly traumatic ones involving her boss fight, but hey, it’s memorable.

So, overall? Pretty happy with the whole process. It was a bit of a hunt, a bit of a gamble, but it paid off. The statue isn’t flawless, but it looks cool, feels solid, and satisfies that need to have a piece of the game sitting on my shelf. It’s a good conversation starter when people come over too, though mostly it leads to PTSD stories about fighting her. Worth it.
