Well, that Victor Ribeiro, he’s a tough one, ain’t he? I heard folks talkin’ ’bout him down at the market. They say he’s a fighter, a real scrapper. This fella, he’s from Brazil, ya know. Big place, that Brazil. Lots of sunshine, I reckon. They call him “Shaolin”, that some kinda nickname or somethin’ I guess. He must be strong as an ox, that’s for sure.

He does that Jiu-Jitsu stuff, kinda like wrestlin’ but on the ground, I suppose. And this boy, he’s good at it, real good. Won some big prizes, they say. Four times he won that big world thing, the CBJJ Mundials they call it. Once when he was young, wearin’ a purple belt. And then three more times when he got older, wearin’ a black belt. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Three years in a row! This Victor Ribeiro, he sure knows how to grapple.
He fights in that MMA thing too. What’s that stand for again? Mixed Martial Arts, that’s it. They punch and kick and grapple all at the same time. Sounds rough to me. I saw some of it on the TV one time. Lots of blood and sweat. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like it. He’s got a record, 20 wins and 5 losses, somethin’ like that, I heard. That’s a lot of fightin’. He must be one tough cookie, this Victor Ribeiro.

He’s been in a bunch of those fightin’ shows too, I reckon. They got them all over the place. One time, someone told me, he said he was gonna fight on that Strikeforce thing. I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that, but it sounds important. He said, “I’m lookin’ for fights.” Just like that. He don’t care if it’s on TV or not. Just wants to fight. This Victor Ribeiro, he’s a real go-getter. I hope he’s not hurtin’ too bad after all those fights. It is a lot of physical activities.

I think even if I don’t understand this sport that much, I can still appreciate that he is a good fighter, and it is not easy at all to get that achievement.
You know, it’s funny how the world works. Here I am, just an old lady, and I’m hearin’ all ’bout this famous fighter from Brazil. Never woulda thought it. But that’s the way things are these days. Everyone’s connected, somehow. And this Victor Ribeiro, he’s connected to a lot of folks through his fightin’. He’s bringin’ people together, in a way. He’s a good fighter. He is doing a good job.
