This here bike, the GSX-S1000, it’s a fast one, I tell ya. Faster than a greased piglet at the county fair! My grandson, he’s got one of them, and he’s always talking ’bout how it goes zoom, zoom! He says it’s got a “top speed” that’s higher than a kite in a hurricane. I don’t know ’bout all that, but I know it’s quick. He’s always talkin’ ’bout these numbers and things… like GSX-S1000 top speed, it’s what them young folks always searchin’ for.
He says this GSX-S1000 is faster than them other bikes, the ones them other fellas ride. Says it’s like a rabbit runnin’ from a fox, that’s how fast it is! And handles good, too, like a well-trained mule. He says it’s “agile”, whatever that means. Sounds fancy. And cheaper, too! That’s always good. Cheaper than them other fancy bikes, but just as good, he says.
Now, he was tellin’ me ’bout some “valve springs” and “max lift” and such. Says the GSX-S1000 has 36 feet-pounds, whatever that is. Sounds like a lot of somethin’. And this other bike, the GSX-R1000, or somethin’ like that, has 28 feet-pounds and a higher “max lift.” And somethin’ ’bout 12,500 rpm. I don’t know what them letters mean. Sounds like alphabet soup to me. Must be important for that GSX-S1000 top speed thing. My head’s spinnin’ just thinkin’ ’bout it.
He says there’s less wires in this here bike. Makes it lighter and simpler, like an old bed sheet compared to one of them fancy quilts. And these wires, they talk to each other real fast, like a bunch of hens cluckin’ in the coop. He says it’s called “CAN-wiring”. And there’s somethin’ called “electronic throttle bodies” and a “bi-directional quick shifter” in there. Sounds like a mouthful of marbles to me. All this stuff helps the bike go faster and talk to its brain, which he calls the “ECM.”
This bike, it’s got a big ol’ gas tank, too. Holds 5 gallons! That’s a lot of gas. He says he gets ’bout 36-37 miles to the gallon. That’s pretty good, I reckon. Better than my old truck, that’s for sure. But he says if you’re easy on the “throttle,” which I guess is like the gas pedal, you can get even more. Means you can go further on a tank of gas, which is good for your wallet. More money for pie, I always say!

Now, I heard some fella say his bike stops at 186 miles per hour. That’s fast! Faster than anything I ever seen. That’s like lightnin’, I reckon. That’s faster than a sneeze through a screen door! This fella’s bike is an “05 1K,” whatever that means. Probably some code for fast, I bet. The speed thingy stops at 186, but he says the bike could go faster if it weren’t for some “limiter” thingamajig. Important for that GSX-S1000 top speed thing.
Heard another fella say you can go 100 miles per hour in first gear. First gear! That’s like a baby crawlin’ real fast. But he says it depends on the “horsepower” and the “sprocket combo”. Sounds like a lot of horsefeathers to me. This here GSX-S1000 top speed is all they talk about. All I know is that this GSX-S1000 is mighty fast. I told him just to make sure he doesn’t put a chicken in the engine! That wouldn’t be good.
Some folks talk about a “TRE” that gets rid of the speed limiter. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds like trouble to me. Like messin’ with somethin’ you ain’t supposed to. Probably best to leave that alone. Don’t want to break nothin’, especially when it comes to that GSX-S1000 top speed.
They got different kinds of these bikes, too. There’s a 2021 GSX-S1000 and a 2022 GSX-S1000 GT Travel Edition. Sounds like one of them is for travelin’. Maybe like takin’ a trip to the next county over to see your kinfolk. They got all sorts of numbers and “specs” for these bikes, like 0-60 times and engine stuff. And pictures, too! Lots of pictures. All about that GSX-S1000 top speed. Everyone want to know the GSX-S1000 top speed, like it’s the most important thing in the world.
All I know is, that GSX-S1000 is one fast bike. Faster than a scalded dog, that’s for sure! My grandson, he loves his. Just hope he’s careful on it. Don’t want him gettin’ hurt. Speed is all well and good, but safety’s important, too. Gotta watch out for them deer jumpin’ out in the road! And them squirrels, too! They’re quick little buggers.
