Twitter Not Showing Images Fix Common Problem Now

Must read

Let me tell you about this mess I ran into yesterday. Woke up all ready to scroll through Twitter like usual with my morning coffee. Clicked on a tweet expecting a funny cat picture or maybe some news. Boom. Nothing. Just blank space where the picture should be. Thought it was a fluke at first, you know?

Tried another tweet. Same deal. Just empty space mocking me. Tried opening links, nada. Videos? Sometimes worked, but pictures? Forget about it. Cleared the app cache – didn’t budge. Closed the app and reopened it. Twice. Still zip. What a total waste.

Alright Time To Dig In

Okay, deep breaths. This ain’t my first rodeo. Started basic. Switched my phone from WiFi to mobile data. Suddenly, like magic, pictures started showing up again. Went back to WiFi? Poof, gone! Blank city. So clearly, the issue was tied to my WiFi network somehow. Weird, right?

Figured maybe it was just my phone acting stupid. Grabbed my laptop, opened Twitter in a real browser, same WiFi network. Pictures loaded fine! Huh. Okay, so now the Twitter app on my phone is playing favorites. Annoying.

Things Got Weirder

Since the browser worked on WiFi, but the app didn’t, I thought maybe the app just needed a kick in the pants. Uninstalled it. Yep, dragged it to the trash bin. Restarted my phone for good measure – gotta cover the bases. Downloaded the Twitter app fresh from the store, logged back in, feeling hopeful… Annnnnnd nothing. Still blank spaces where pictures should be. Felt like throwing the phone.

Started poking around online. Saw others complaining too. Seemed common right now. One thing kept popping up: data saver settings inside the Twitter app. Now, I never turn that stuff on. But heck, maybe it flipped itself? Went into the app settings:

  • Accessibility, display, and languages
  • Data usage

Saw it – Data saver. It was turned OFF, like I thought. But there’s another sneaky one right below it: Images. Mine was set to ‘Never load’ or something similar! Who did that?! Switched it back to ‘Always load’ or whatever the full load option is called.

Back to the timeline… Voila! Pictures everywhere! Like unlocking a door.

Still Weird Though

Here’s the kicker. Why did this setting suddenly change? I sure didn’t touch it. Was it an app update? A bug? Who knows. And why did switching networks temporarily fix it? Weird logic there. Maybe it overrides the setting differently?

Point is, if your Twitter pictures vanished overnight for no good reason, don’t panic. Don’t just mess with your phone settings or the app cache first. Go hunting in Twitter’s own app settings, deep under data usage, and find that image loading option. Flip it back to always load pictures.

Hopefully that’s it. Took me half the morning and one reinstalled app. Twitter’s just gonna Twitter sometimes. Now excuse me, I got some pictures to finally look at. Cheers!
