Man, I was trying to catch the game last night, you know, the NBA playoffs. But I’ve cut the cord, so no cable for me. Figured I’d just stream it online, easy peasy, right? Wrong.

First, I went straight to the big-name sports streaming services. They make it sound so simple. “Watch all the primetime games!” they say. Well, turns out, it’s not that simple at all. They don’t always have all the games.
So, I started digging around, trying to find somewhere, anywhere, that was showing the game. Found a bunch of sites talking about streaming NBA games, and a lot of them mentioned this “topstreams” thing. Seemed like a popular option.
Figuring Out the Whole “Topstreams” Thing
I spent a good chunk of time looking into this. What I found was it’s kinda shady. Apparently, it’s not exactly legit, more like a gray area. These platforms that mention it say it’s all about finding the right links, and they can be hit or miss. One might work perfectly, the next might be garbage, full of pop-ups, or just not working at all.
- I tried a few of the links that people were suggesting.
- Some were dead ends.
- Others redirected me to some random sites that had nothing to do with basketball.
- And yeah, a couple actually started playing a stream, but the quality was terrible. It was all pixelated and kept buffering.
I did eventually find a stream that was watchable, after clicking through a bunch of ads that I was worried might give my computer some digital disease. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, I got to see the game. Not sure I’d recommend this route though, it’s a bit of a gamble and it feels kinda sketchy.
Honestly, the whole experience was a bit of a headache. I spent more time trying to find a working stream than I did actually watching the game! There’s got to be a better way, right?

From what I’ve read, it seems like if you’re really serious about watching all the games without cable, you might need to sign up for a few different services. And even then, there’s always the chance that a particular game you want to watch won’t be available. It’s all a bit of a mess.
Anyway, that’s my adventure trying to stream the NBA game last night. Learned a lot about “topstreams” and the wild west of online sports streaming. Maybe I’ll just stick to highlights from now on.
