Well, you hear about them Thunder, right? Them boys play ball down in Oklahoma City. Big city, I reckon. They used to be somewhere else, Seattle I think they called it, SuperSonics. Sounded like some fancy airplane to me. Anyways, they moved down to Oklahoma and now they’re the Thunder. And boy, are they somethin’ else this year. I heard on the radio that they be winning the Thunder games all the time. More wins than losses, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t no expert on that basketball, but I know when a team is doin’ good. These Thunder fellas, they play good together. Throw that ball around like it’s a hot potato. They score a lot, that’s what I hear. More than the other teams, most nights. They got this young fella, real tall, real good at puttin’ the ball in the hoop. And they got some other good players. They play against all sorts of teams. One team, they call them the Spurs, like them things on cowboys’ boots. Now that’s a funny name for a team, ain’t it? Used to be called the Gunslingers. And then to Spurs. Don’t make no sense to me, but I guess they know what they’re doin’. And then there’s this team called Warriors. They are from somewhere near California.
I heard these Thunder fellas, they play those Spurs and Warriors, and sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. It’s like anythin’ else, I suppose. You win some, you lose some. But this year, these Thunder boys, they seem to be winnin’ more than losin’. A lot more. Some other teams they play are Lakers, Mavericks, and Celtics. Don’t ask me where those places are. Somewhere far, I reckon. They play basketball everywhere these days.
They got some games called the playoffs. When you win a lot of games in the regular season, you get to go to the playoffs. That’s like the big time, I guess. Big games, lots of folks watchin’. These Thunder, they been to the playoffs before. And they might just go again this year, playin’ like they are.
Now, sometimes things get sour. Even when you’re winnin’, things can get a little sour. Like when you bake a pie and put too much lemon in it. Just a little too tart. That’s what happens sometimes with these teams. They get to arguin’ with the referees, or maybe they just ain’t playin’ well together. That is what we called “sours“.
Like the other day, I heard the Thunder was playin’ and things got a little sour. They weren’t movin’ the ball like they usually do. Weren’t makin’ their shots. Lost the game, they did.
