Smart Losers Round 2 Dropspots: Turn the Tide of the Game.

Must read

Alright, so let’s talk about this “Losers Round 2” thing I was messing with today. It’s part of that whole ALGS Split 2 Playoffs deal. I’ve been grinding it out, trying to get a better handle on where to drop for the best results.

I started my day early, like 10 AM, cause I wanted to really get some decent practice in. I fired up the game and jumped straight into some matches, focusing on the Losers Round 2 format. Today was all about Bo6, so that’s 3 matches on Storm Point and 3 on World’s Edge, I wanted to see how the zones were behaving, cause they’ve been all over the place. They are kinda the make-or-break in this game, you know?

I noticed a trend – a lot of south zones, especially on Storm Point. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just dropping in different spots, trying to figure out the best places to land based on where the zone was likely to end up. It’s a real pain when you drop, loot up, and then have to haul your backside all the way across the map because the zone decided to be a jerk.

  • Storm Point Drops: I experimented with a few spots near the south side. Places like “The Wall” and that area near “Lightning Rod.” They seemed decent, but it’s always a gamble.
  • World’s Edge Drops: This one was trickier. I tried sticking around “Fragment East” and “Fragment West” because, well, everyone loves a good Fragment fight, right? But honestly, it felt like a coin flip. Sometimes it worked, sometimes I got rolled before I even got a decent gun.

I played through all six matches, made some notes on my phone about where the zones ended up and where I seemed to have the most success. And I had a few moments where I thought I was onto something. I even managed to win a couple of games when I guessed the zone right, which felt pretty sweet. But then, just when I thought I had it figured out, I’d get completely wrecked in the next game because the zone pulled a fast one on me.

After that whole session, I went to check out what other people were saying about the dropspots. Found some interesting discussions online, but nothing concrete. It seems like everyone’s still trying to figure this stuff out. Even saw some pro players messing up their drops. The most interesting thing that I think that if teams are still tied, the tiebreakers will be determined in the following order: wins/losses, head-to-head record, and game +/-. There are still so many things that I want to try.

Anyways, that’s my day in a nutshell. A lot of trial and error, a few wins, a bunch of losses, and a whole lot of running from the zone. I’m gonna keep at it, though. Maybe tomorrow I’ll crack the code. Or maybe I’ll just end up running in circles again. Who knows? That’s the fun of it, I guess. If you keep getting queued into them, they’ll roll you over.

The final words:

Keep grinding, keep experimenting, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll all figure out this crazy game. See y’all next time!
