Okay, so I wanted to learn the Wisconsin fight song, “On, Wisconsin!” I’ve heard it a million times at Badger games, but I realized I only knew, like, two lines. Time to fix that!

Finding the Lyrics
First things first, I needed the actual words. My go-to move is always just to search it up. I typed in “Wisconsin fight song lyrics” and boom, I found many websites.I picked one and I could find these:
- On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
- Plunge right through that line!
- Run the ball clear down the field,
- A touchdown sure this time.
- On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
- Fight on for her fame
- Fight! Fellows! Fight!
- And we will win this game.
I got my words.
Listening and Practicing
Just reading the lyrics wasn’t enough. I needed to hear the song, get the rhythm, and all that. So I looked up “On Wisconsin” on my * a bunch of versions, from the UW Marching Band (obviously) to some… uh… less official ones. I listened to the marching band version a few times to get the hang of it.
Then came the practice part. I’m not gonna lie, I felt a little silly singing it out loud in my living room. But hey, gotta do what you gotta do. I started slow, just trying to match the words to the music. Then I picked up the pace, trying to get that energetic, fight-song vibe.
I probably spent a good 20 minutes just singing it over and over. My dog was looking at me kinda funny, but whatever. I think I’ve got it down pretty well now! Next time I’m at a game, I’ll be able to belt it out with the best of ’em. Go Bucky!
