Booking Confusion Strikes
So I booked Silver Sevens through what looked like a cheap third-party site, feeling pretty smug about scoring a $79 room. Didn’t bother reading the microscopic “fee disclosure” text buried under twenty promo banners. Big mistake.

Check-In Shock
Arrived tired after my flight, handed over my ID at the front desk. That’s when the clerk drops the bomb: “Your total includes a $35 nightly resort fee plus $15 parking”. Felt like getting sucker-punched! My “cheap” room suddenly jumped to $129/night before even stepping foot inside.
- Pool access? Never use it
- “Free” wifi? My phone hotspot works fine
- Gym privileges? I just wanted sleep
My Fee Negotiation Attempt
Got mad and pulled the “I don’t need any amenities” card. Manager shrugged: “Mandatory for all guests, sir”. Even tried threatening to cancel – they’d still charge one night’s fee. Learned the hard way this ain’t negotiable.
Post-Trip Homework
Checked their official site later and guess what? Tiny “daily resort fee applies” disclaimer hidden below room rates. Dug deeper and found:
- Always assume Vegas hotels add $30-$45/night extra
- Third-party sites show pre-fee prices to look cheaper
- Call the hotel directly before booking – make them quote all fees
How I’ll Avoid Next Time
Now I add resort fees to room rates mentally when comparing. Like seeing a “$99” deal? Nope – $134. Period. Also started booking direct after learning some loyalty members get fee discounts. Lesson burned into my brain: Vegas room prices are fake news till you add the hidden fees.
