senna top build guide learn best runes and items for her

Must read

Alright, so lemme tell ya about my Senna top experiment. Looked at this top build hype and figured, “Why not?” Needed something fresh to mess around with.

Starting Out & Getting My Butt Kicked

First, I jumped straight into a normals game. Grabbed Fleet Footwork for the runes cause everyone screamed it was OP up there. Fleet Footwork, Presence of Mind, Legend: Alacrity, Last Stand – boom. Secondary, Inspiration with Biscuits and Approach Velocity. Figured it’d be good. Man, was I wrong at first.

Bought Eclipse first item like the guides said. Walked into lane against this bruiser dude – might’ve been a Darius or Sett, honestly forgot who dumpstered me harder. Felt like paper. Couldn’t trade, couldn’t farm safely once he got on top of me. That healing from Eclipse? Felt like putting a tiny bandaid on a gaping wound. Died twice before I even got the stupid thing built. Wanted to uninstall. Seriously.

Switching Things Up & Finding Groove

Alright, rage-quit wasn’t an option. Thought, maybe the runes were fine, but the items sucked for me in top lane. Saw some people mention Iceborne Gauntlet instead for tankiness. Made sense. Top’s full of beefy guys who wanna hug you to death.

Next game:

  • Still Fleet Footwork: Kept it. That little heal-speed boost helps so much dodging skillshots and getting minions without getting punched in the face.
  • But items? Ditched Eclipse. Went Tear start -> First back bought Sheen and boots -> Rushed Iceborne Gauntlet. Felt like wearing actual armor suddenly!
  • Slapped ’em slow field: That Iceborne slow zone after hitting them with an auto? Gold. Made escaping or chasing way easier.

Instantly felt tankier. Could actually survive if someone jumped on me long enough to drop my big circle root thingy (E? Q? The one that traps them) and maybe get away. Didn’t win the lane, but didn’t feed. Huge improvement. Farm started happening.

The Final Build That Clicked

Got Iceborne, finished Manamune for the damage. Felt strong! Then I looked at the rest.

  • Third item? Lots of magic damage on their team? Force of Nature. Needed armor? Dead Man’s Plate? Armor pen? Serylda’s Grudge felt really nice later on. That slow stacked with Iceborne’s.
  • Boots? Swifties for kiting. Sometimes Merc Treads for CC.

Gameplay became:

  1. Peck them with autos from max range whenever Fleet was up.
  2. If they try to gap close? Drop the slow field (Q) and RUN while pelting them back. Iceborne procs on the autos? Yep, slow zone pops.
  3. They really commit hard? Drop the big circle root (W) right on your feet or slightly behind you as you run. Kite backwards, peel for yourself.
  4. Late game? Stay waaaay back in fights. Spam heals on your team, snipe squishies with your ultimate. Be annoying.

Final Thoughts

Look. Senna top ain’t meta. It’s cheesy. It requires serious patience. Don’t expect to solo kill the lane bully. You won’t. Fleet Footwork + Iceborne Gauntlet rush? That combo was the key for me to not hate life up there. It made her surprisingly tanky and gave her the tools to survive long enough to scale into a late-game monster. Just gotta accept you’re playing for later, not winning lane early.
