So, I’ve always been a huge golf fan, you know, the kind who plans their weekends around tournaments. When I heard about the Senior British Open, I thought, “Why not give it a go?” I mean, it’s not every day you get to see some of the legends of the game in action. I started to do some research about it.

First things first, I checked the dates. It’s happening in July 2024, perfect timing for a summer trip! Then, I dug into the history of the tournament. Apparently, they lowered the age limit from 55 to 50 back in ’81, so it’s been around for a while and become a pretty big deal in the world of senior golf. I found out that it’s always been won by professionals, even though it’s technically open to amateurs too, so you know the competition is fierce.
This year, it’s being held at Carnoustie. Let me tell you, that place is notorious! They even call it “Carnastie” because the wind there can be brutal. I watched some old footage of tournaments there, and man, even the pros struggled. It’s going to be a real test of skill, that’s for sure.
- Looked up the list of past winners.
- Scanned through some FAQs about the event to get the lowdown on the rules and stuff.
- Even browsed the live leaderboard for the PGA TOUR Champions to see who might be playing.
After all that, I decided I had to go. I booked my tickets. Now, I’m just counting down the days, practicing my swing whenever I can, and dreaming of witnessing some amazing golf at Carnoustie. It’s going to be one for the books!
