Okay, so the other day, I was trying to figure out just how popular the Rugby World Cup really is. I mean, I know it’s big, but how big? So, I started digging around for some viewership numbers.

My first step was, well, just hitting up the search engine. I typed in something like “rugby world cup viewers” and started scrolling through the results.
The Numbers Game
I found some interesting stuff pretty quickly. It looks like figuring out the exact number is a bit tricky because there are different ways to measure it, like “cumulative audience” and stuff like that. I’m not gonna lie, some of it went over my head.
But I did find some solid numbers! Apparently, the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France pulled in a global cumulative TV audience of 800 million. Whoa!
Then after learning that informatiom, I compared to a previous tournament, and noticed that the 2023 is a decrease of approximately 7 percent from the previous tournament.
It’s pretty wild to think about that many people tuning in. Clearly, rugby’s got a massive following around the world!
