Okay, so I’ve been wanting to customize my Kawasaki Ninja for a while now. I finally decided to go for a black and gold theme. It just looks so sleek and powerful, you know?

First things first, I gotta get the bike totally clean. I’m talking a thorough wash, getting all the grime and dust off. I used some regular car wash soap and a soft sponge. Made sure to rinse it really well, so there’s no soap residue left behind.
Prepping for Paint
Next, I needed to prep the parts I wanted to paint gold. I decided on the wheels, some accents on the fairings, and the levers. I removed the wheels carefully and used painter’s tape to mask off the areas I wanted to stay black. This took some time and patience, but it’s super important to get clean lines.

Painting Process
I opted for a high-quality, durable gold spray paint specifically made for automotive use. I made sure to do this in a well-ventilated area (my garage with the door open) and wore a mask. You don’t want to be breathing in those fumes! I applied several thin coats, letting each coat dry completely before applying the next. It’s better to do multiple thin coats than one thick, gloppy coat. Trust me, I learned that the hard way on a previous project!
After I finished the painting, I waited 24 hours before moving to the next step.

Clear Coat and Finishing Touches
Once the gold paint was fully dry, I applied a clear coat to protect the paint and give it a nice, glossy finish. Again, I used a spray specifically for automotive use. Same process as before – multiple thin coats, letting each one dry.
After the clear coat dried, it was time to reassemble everything. I carefully put the wheels back on, making sure everything was tightened properly. I removed the painter’s tape, and… wow! It looked even better than I imagined.
Finally, I gave the whole bike a good polish to really make it shine. The black and gold combo is just killer. I’m so stoked with how it turned out! It was a bit of work, but totally worth it to give my Ninja a unique, custom look.
