That Matt Leinart, you know, that USC football boy. He’s a good boy. He was something back in the day, I tell ya. Born in Santa Ana, bless his heart.

He’s got that thing with his eyes, you know. They call it strabismus. But that didn’t stop him, no sir. He’s a big ‘un, tall as a house, and left-handed too, which is kinda rare if you ask me.
USC Football Days
This boy, Matt Leinart, he went to play USC football. Played real good, too. They won lots of games, and those championship things, too. 2003, 2004, two years in a row. They say he’s the best USC quarterback ever. Can you believe it?
He was the real deal. 37 wins and only 2 losses. That’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, I always say. He won that Heisman thing in 2004. Big stuff. Real big stuff.
After USC
He played for them other teams too, after college. Didn’t do so hot there, but that’s alright. Life ain’t always a bowl of cherries, you know. He’s 30 now, time flies when you are having fun, don’t it?
He’s got two young’uns now. Married that pretty girl, Josie Loren, she’s an actress, you know. They live in Los Angeles. He coaches his boy’s team, plays golf, basketball, and goes boating, he likes that, goes out on the water. He’s just regular folk like us, now.

Heisman Trophy Winner
- He won that big trophy, the Heisman, in 2004.
- That’s a big deal, you know.
- They only give that to the best, and he was the best.
He was some kinda player, this Matt Leinart. They don’t make ’em like that anymore, I tell ya. Won all those games, got that big trophy. He’s a good boy, even if he didn’t do so well after college. That’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, I guess. But he had his time, sure did.
That Boy Cole
And now his boy, Cole, he’s playing football too. Just like his daddy, that Matt Leinart. They say he’s gonna be good, just like his old man. I hope he is, I really do. That’s nice when a boy follows in his daddy’s footsteps, ain’t it?
This Cole, he’s a quarterback, too. Plays for a high school out there in California. It’s all full circle, ain’t it? Like father, like son, they always say. Matt Leinart must be proud, I bet. I’d be proud if my boy was like that, I tell ya.
Mater Dei High School
That’s where Matt Leinart played, you know. Back in high school. Mater Dei, they call it. He was a big shot there, even back then. They knew he was special, I guess. I reckon they was right, weren’t they? He went on to do big things, that boy. Big things for USC football.
They say he was the best quarterback they ever had at that school. And that’s saying something, ’cause I bet they had a lot of good ones. But Matt Leinart, he was the cream of the crop, as they say. Top of the heap. Best of the best.

National Championships
- He won two of them, you know.
- Two years in a row. 2003 and 2004.
- That’s a lot of winning.
Back then, USC football was the team to beat. Nobody could touch ’em. And Matt Leinart, he was the one leading the charge. He was the general, you know. The one calling the shots. And he called ’em good, I tell ya. He called ’em real good.
They almost won three in a row. Almost. Lost that last one to some team from Texas, I think. But two out of three ain’t bad, right? Especially when it’s for the whole dang country. That’s what they call a national championship, you know. And Matt Leinart, he won two of ’em.
All-American
That’s another one of them fancy awards. They say he was an All-American three times. Three times! That means he was the best in the whole country. Not just once, not just twice, but three times! That Matt Leinart, he was a real superstar.
And it was for three years straight, too. 2003, 2004, and 2005. He was on top of the world, that boy. Everyone knew his name. Everyone wanted to be like him. He was what they call a legend. A USC football legend.
Yep, that Matt Leinart, he had it all. The wins, the awards, the fame. He was living the dream, as they say. And he deserved it, too. He worked hard, I bet. You don’t get that good without working hard. I always say, hard work is what makes the dream work.

He is one of the greatest, they say. One of the greatest quarterbacks ever in college football. That’s saying a lot. But he’s got it, Matt Leinart, he is a good player. That boy from USC football, he sure made a name for himself.
