So, I got to thinking about the 2006 World Cup the other day. Specifically, the US team. It feels like a lifetime ago, right? I couldn’t quite picture the whole squad in my head, just a few key players. Decided I needed to actually look it up properly, just to satisfy my own curiosity.
Fired up the old computer and started digging around. My first searches were pretty broad, something like “USA team world cup 2006”. Got a lot of different results back, news articles from the time, match reports, that kind of thing. Had to sift through a bit.
I tried to narrow it down, searching specifically for “2006 US World Cup roster” or “squad list”. That started getting me closer. Found a few pages that seemed dedicated to sports history or tournament archives. You know how it is, sometimes you land on a page that looks right, but you gotta double-check.
I looked at a couple of different sources just to make sure they matched up. Didn’t want to get halfway through remembering and realize I had the wrong list. Took a few clicks here and there, comparing names.
Putting the List Together
After confirming across a couple of places, I felt pretty good I had the actual group of players that went to Germany. It’s funny how some names jump right out and others you’d completely forgotten about.
Here’s the roster I managed to piece together from that search:

Yeah, that looks about right. Seeing names like Reyna, McBride, Keller, Donovan, Dempsey all on there definitely brings back memories of that tournament. Took a little bit of effort to track down the confirmed list, but got there in the end. It was a decent trip down memory lane, remembering that team and that summer.
