Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my R6, trying to see just how fast I could get this thing to go. I heard some chatter online about “top speed runs,” and, well, I got curious. Figured I’d give it a shot and document the whole thing.

Getting Started
First things first, I made sure I had a safe, closed-course environment. This isn’t something you mess with on public roads. No way. I found a long, straight stretch of private track. Safety first, always.
Next, I went over the bike. I checked the tires, the brakes, everything. I made sure she’s mechanically top-notch, fully warmed-up, proper tire pressures, a full tank of gas, all that, so it wouldn’t be dangerous during my high-speed try.
The Runs
- Run 1: I started off a little hesitant. Didn’t want to push it too hard right away. I got up to a decent speed, felt the wind, got a feel for how the bike was handling. Not bad, but I knew there was more there.
- Run 2: I cranked it up a bit more this time. Opened up the throttle a little wider, tucked in tighter. The acceleration was nuts! The bike felt solid, though. Really planted. I hit a higher speed, for sure, but still felt like I was holding back.
- Run 3: This was it. The “go for broke” run. I tucked as tight as I possibly could, kept the throttle pinned. The engine was screaming, the wind was roaring. It felt insane! I glanced at the speedo…and saw the highest number I’d seen all day. I didn’t write the speed, but it was high.
Wrapping Up
After that last run, I let the bike cool down. I was pretty pumped, not gonna lie. It’s amazing what these machines can do. It’s also a little scary, to be honest. You really feel the speed.
Would I do it again? Maybe. It’s a rush, for sure. But it’s also something you have to respect. You need the right bike, the right place, and the right mindset. Otherwise, it’s just plain dangerous.
So, that’s my top speed R6 story. It was a fun experiment, and I definitely learned a thing or two about my bike and myself.
