Okay, so I wanted to share what I did the other day. Ended up going over to Wicker Memorial Park.

Getting There and First Look
Just felt like getting out of the house for a bit, you know? Wasn’t really planning anything big. I remembered Wicker Park wasn’t too far, so I just hopped in the car and drove over. Finding parking wasn’t too bad, which was a relief. Sometimes you go places and parking is a whole ordeal, but this was pretty smooth.
First thing I noticed when I got out was just how big the place felt. Lots of green space, which is always nice to see. The main building there, the clubhouse I guess, looks pretty impressive. Kinda stands out. It was a decent day, not too hot, not too cold. Just right for a walk.
Wandering Around
So, I started walking. Didn’t have a specific path in mind, just wandered where my feet took me. Saw quite a few people out enjoying the day. Some were definitely there for golf, saw them with their bags and carts heading towards the course. Looked like a serious setup they have there.
I walked past some of the memorial areas. It’s got that name for a reason, right? Took a moment to look at them. Makes you think. It wasn’t super crowded where I was walking, mostly peaceful actually. I saw:
- Families having picnics on the grass.
- Some kids running around, looked like maybe near a splash pad area but I didn’t get too close.
- Lots of trees, just nice mature trees providing shade.
Honestly, it felt good just to stroll and not really have a destination. Just observing things. Saw some nice flower beds here and there, looked like someone puts effort into keeping the place looking sharp. It’s a solid park, does what a park should do, gives people a place to relax or play.

Didn’t spend hours and hours there. Maybe walked around for about an hour, hour and a half? Just long enough to stretch my legs and get some fresh air. Felt like mission accomplished for what I wanted that day.
Getting back to the car was easy, and heading out was no problem. Just a simple, straightforward visit. Sometimes those are the best kind. Glad I went.
