Alright, folks, let me tell you about my little adventure to the Robert Moses Pitch and Putt. I’d heard a few things about this place, so I figured it was time to check it out for myself. Now, I’m no pro golfer, but I enjoy a good round of pitch and putt, and this place seemed like it might be a nice spot.
First off, getting there was a bit of a trek. You gotta head out to Fire Island, which is, you know, an island. So, there’s that. I packed up my clubs, made sure I had some snacks and drinks – because, priorities – and set off. Found out the hard way that getting there early is the way to go, especially in the summer. The weather was nice, thankfully, but I could see it getting crowded quickly.
Once I got to Robert Moses State Park, I was a bit turned around, I ended up asking one of the workers there where to go, turns out Field 2 is where it’s at. It’s the largest one apparently, and that’s where the pitch and putt course is. It’s actually an 18-hole public golf course, if you want to know.

I paid the entry fee – yeah, it costs a bit to get in, but I was already there, so, might as well. Then I started walking, and man, it’s a bit of a hike to the course. But you know what? The views are pretty sweet. You’re right by the Atlantic Ocean, so you get that nice sea breeze and the sound of the waves. It’s kind of worth it just for that, to be honest.
The course itself is decent. It’s 18 holes, all laid out nicely, and each one has its own little quirks. Nothing too crazy, but enough to keep it interesting. I wouldn’t say it’s the fanciest course I’ve ever played on, but it’s got that relaxed, public course vibe. Kinda like it, it is a good place to get some practice.
My Round of Pitch and Putt
I teed off, and my first few shots were… well, let’s just say I was warming up. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? As I went along, I started getting into a groove. Hit some good shots, missed a few, the usual. The greens were in okay shape – not perfect, but not terrible either.

The other people on the course were a mixed bag. Some folks were clearly taking it seriously, with all their gear and whatnot. Others were just there to have a good time, like me. It was a pretty chill atmosphere overall, which I appreciated.
By the end of the round, I was feeling pretty good. I mean, my score wasn’t going to break any records, but I had fun, and that’s what matters. Plus, I got some fresh air and exercise, so that’s a win in my book. It also mentioned it had better food than Field 3 and 4, but I am not sure about it, cause I already packed a lunch. I think the next time I come, I will definitely give it a try.
So, would I recommend the Robert Moses Pitch and Putt? Yeah, I think I would. It’s a nice little spot for a casual round of golf. Just be prepared for a bit of a walk, and don’t expect anything too fancy. But if you’re looking for a relaxed, enjoyable experience by the ocean, this place is worth checking out. And remember – get there early, especially if it’s a nice day!
