Okay, so check it, today I’m gonna spill the beans on my little Philly Phanatic London escapade. Buckle up, it’s a bit of a ride.

It all started with a crazy idea: I wanted to see what would happen if I Photoshopped the Phanatic into some classic London scenes. Why? Because why not? I’m always looking for a fun side project, and I figured the Phanatic’s absurdity would play well against the backdrop of London’s… well, everything.
First thing I did was grab a bunch of high-res photos of London landmarks. Think Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the works. I spent a solid hour just scouring the web for the perfect images – gotta have the right lighting, the right angles, you know? Then, I needed some good shots of the Phanatic. Luckily, the internet is overflowing with those.
Next up: Photoshop time. This is where the real work started. I started by cutting the Phanatic out of his background – a painstaking process, let me tell you. The Phanatic’s got so many fuzzy edges, it took forever to get a clean selection. I used the refine edge tool like my life depended on it.
Once I had the Phanatic isolated, I started dropping him into the London scenes. This wasn’t just a simple copy-paste job, though. I had to mess with the scale, the lighting, and the shadows to make him look like he actually belonged there. I spent ages tweaking the color balance to match the Phanatic to the London sky. I even added a subtle motion blur in some shots to make him look like he was on the move.
One of my favorites was putting him outside Buckingham Palace, waving at the guards. I made him slightly transparent, like he was a ghost, which cracked me up. Another one was him photobombing a red telephone booth. Classic!

After I finished Photoshopping a few of these images, I decided to share them online. I wasn’t expecting much, but people actually seemed to dig them! I posted them to a couple of Philly sports forums and a few London-themed subreddits. The reactions were hilarious. Some people loved it, some people were confused, and some people were just plain annoyed. But hey, that’s the internet for ya!
Lessons Learned:
- Don’t be afraid to be a little weird.
- Photoshop is your friend (but also your enemy).
- The internet is a strange and wonderful place.
So yeah, that was my “Philly Phanatic London” adventure. A silly, fun, and ultimately pointless project. But hey, sometimes you just gotta do something for the laughs, right?
