Man, the Phillies are on a rough streak lately. I started following them closely back in June, and they were doing great. Had the best record and all that. But they hit a wall after the All-Star break. It’s been a real rollercoaster since then.
I remember the game on Tuesday, I went to the bar with some buddies to watch it. Perfect summer night, you know? Citizens Bank Park was packed, everyone’s hyped up, and then bam, another loss. It’s like the energy just got sucked out of the place. We ended up leaving the bar totally bummed out.
They called us “Phillies Phanatics”, maybe we are. I heard that the Buck and Montgomery families, along with some guy named Pat Gillick, they own the team, or parts of it. Sounds like a whole mess of people calling the shots.
Honestly, I started wondering if it all boils down to the team management. They said no one person owns the majority, so who’s really in charge? Is that the problem?
- I started getting curious about how many people actually go to these games, win or lose.
- Turns out, even with the losses, attendance is up.
- They said it’s over 41,000 people on average this year. Crazy, right?
Then, I watched this interview on the local news after another loss, against the Mets, I think. This one lady, she just laid it all out. You could tell she was feeling the same frustration as the rest of us. It’s like, we’re all in this together, you know?
It’s tough being a Phillies fan right now. But hey, this city’s tough. We’ve been through worse. We’ll bounce back. I just hope the team figures things out before it’s too late. Maybe they need to shake things up a bit, I don’t know. I just want to see them win again!
What can I do
I started keeping a closer eye on individual players, too. There was some buzz about J.T. Realmuto. I guess he’s been dealing with knee issues. Maybe that’s affecting his game, which could be dragging the team down. I don’t know, I’m just spitballing here.
