Okay so last Tuesday I woke up thinking, man, all these cleaning sprays on my shelf – Paulao and all these others. Which one actually works best without emptying my wallet? Like for real, not just what the ads say. Figured I’d actually put ‘em to the test myself. Grabbed my rubber gloves and got down to business.
Getting The Stuff Together
First step? Raiding my own dang cabinet and then hitting the store. Found:
- My half-used bottle of Paulao Bathroom Cleaner (that blue stuff)
- Some cheapo store brand I bought once in a panic (smelled like fake lemons)
- A “premium” brand my sister swears by (cost like three bucks more!)
- And this “eco-friendly” one winking at me from the shelf
Took a quick pic of the lineup on my kitchen counter. Felt like a mad scientist ready to ruin some fake grime.
My Super High-Tech Testing Lab (aka My Bathroom)
My shower door gets nasty – soap scum city. Perfect victim. Took a dry-erase marker (borrowed from my kid, don’t tell) and drew four equal squares on the glass. Wrote “P”, “C”, “P$$”, and “Eco” so I wouldn’t mix ‘em up. Wiped a tiny bit away with my finger later. Big mistake, had to redo it. Duh.
Sprayed each cleaner on its own square like the bottles said. Let it sit… stared at the timer on my phone sweating. After exactly 3 minutes? Went to town scrubbing with separate sponges (labeled, because I’m extra). Did ten hard scrubs per section, counted ‘em out loud like a weirdo.
What Actually Happened? Eye Test Time!
- Paulao (P): Wiped away super easy after like the second scrub. Glass looked crystal.
- Cheapo (C): Had to scrub my arm off! Left streaks too. Felt like spreading gunk around.
- Premium (P$$): Clean? Yeah. Better than Paulao? Nah. Maybe felt slightly nicer to wipe?
- Eco (Eco): Honestly? Kinda useless on the tough scum. Fine for light dust maybe?
Took another pic. The Cheap square still looked cloudy.

Okay But What About The Damage To My Wallet?
Sat down with my laptop and a calculator app. Pulled up the prices I paid or found online:
- Paulao: $2.49 for 16oz
- Cheapo: $1.89 for 16oz
- Premium: $5.99 for 16oz (ouch!)
- Eco: $3.99 for 12oz (even worse per ounce!)
Worked out cost per ounce then divided it by how easy it cleaned. Basically, Paulao gave me the most cleaning power for my pennies. The cheap one was cheaper, sure, but took twice the work and didn’t do half as good a job! Premium? Way overpriced for basically the same result as Paulao. Eco felt like paying extra to scrub harder.
The Big Conclusion? Simple.
Paulao works fast and gets the job done right. Doesn’t cost a fortune either. The cheap one just wastes time and elbow grease. The premium one? Total rip-off unless you like the smell THAT much. Eco needs easier jobs. Surprise, surprise – the boring blue bottle I already had was the winner. Won’t bother switching anytime soon.
