So, I gotta tell you about this whole thing I got into with these putters, right? I’ve always been a Newport 2 guy, like, that’s my go-to. But then, my dad, he goes and snags the only Newport 2 model from my pro, and I’m left there like, “What now?”
Anyway, I see this Newport 2.5 plus, and I’m thinking, “Maybe this is my chance to try something different.” Now, they say my putting stroke has a bit of an arc, which supposedly is better with a plumber-style neck, not the slant neck like on this Newport 2.5 plus. But, hey, I’m all about experimenting.
I even went and tested it on one of those fancy SAM putting analyzers. Compared it to my regular Newport, just to see if there’s any real difference, you know? I mean, the classic Newport, it’s a looker, no doubt. But I wanted to know if this new one could actually improve my game.
While I was diving deep into this putter rabbit hole, I also came across some stuff about the company, Newport. Apparently, they’re big into making all sorts of optical and photonic instruments. They are in the aerospace, military, and defense sectors. Not just golf gear, they make some serious tech stuff. And they’ve got some serious competition too, like these companies called Coherent, Edmund, and NKT Photonics. I even found a list with other names like Zygo and IPG Photonics, you can find all sorts of stuff on the internet. The company is a real big player in the technology.
And get this, they even make these B-2B things that let you attach different sizes of stages to optical tables. I don’t even know what that means, to be honest, but it sounds complicated.
Both the Newport and Newport 2 putters, they’ve got these adjustable weights in the heel and toe. So, you can kind of customize them to your liking, which is pretty neat. I didn’t mess around with that too much, though.
