Motorcycle Pocket Watch: Cool Styles & Where to Buy!

Must read

Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post about making a motorcycle pocket watch, written in the style of a casual, experienced blogger:

Motorcycle Pocket Watch: Cool Styles & Where to Buy!

Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this idea for a while – a pocket watch for my motorcycle. Sounds kinda weird, right? But I like the vintage look, and I wanted something a little different than the usual stick-on digital clocks.

First, I grabbed an old pocket watch I had lying around. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a cheap one I picked up at a flea market. I popped the back off to check out the guts. My main concern was making sure it could handle the vibrations of the bike.

The Trial and Error

  • First Attempt: I initially just tried to strap the whole watch to my handlebars. Bad idea. It was unreadable and shook way too much.
  • Second Attempt: I took apart the watch and tried to mount the mechanism directly inside a small, clear container, which was I amde from hard plastic. That was a little better, but it still looked janky and I could tell the vibrations were gonna kill it.

So I took a break from pocket watch,I found some foam padding, the kind you use for packing fragile stuff. I cut a small piece and wedged it around the watch movement inside that * I found a solid metal casing,I put the container inside metal casing.

Then came the mounting part. I didn’t want anything permanent, so I ended up using some heavy-duty velcro straps. I cleaned the spot on my handlebars where I wanted it, stuck on one side of the velcro, and attached the other side to my makeshift watch housing.

Result

It’s been a few weeks now, and it’s actually holding up pretty well! The foam seems to be absorbing most of the vibrations, and the watch is surprisingly readable, even at speed. It’s definitely got that old-school vibe I was going for, and it’s a fun conversation starter.

It’s not perfect, of course. I might try to find a more elegant way to mount it eventually, and maybe even try to waterproof it a bit better. But for a quick and dirty project, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s all about messing around and seeing what works, right?
