Must read

Okay, so, I signed up for the Miami Half Marathon. I’ve always wanted to run one, and Miami seemed like a pretty cool place to do it. Plus, it was a good excuse to escape the cold for a bit. I started training a few months out, gradually increasing my mileage each week. I’m not gonna lie, some days it was tough to get out there, especially when it was freezing, but I kept pushing myself.

I remember one long run I did about a month before the race. It was a real struggle. My legs felt like lead, and I was mentally drained. But I somehow managed to finish it, and that gave me a huge confidence boost. I started to believe that I could actually do this.

Fast forward to race day. I flew down to Miami a couple of days early to get used to the weather and pick up my race packet. The whole city was buzzing with excitement. There were runners everywhere, and the atmosphere was electric. I tried to stay relaxed and focused, but I was definitely feeling the nerves.

The morning of the race, I woke up super early, had a light breakfast, and headed to the starting line. There were thousands of people there. The energy was insane. When the starting gun went off, I just went with the flow. The first few miles were a blur. I was just trying to find my rhythm and settle into a comfortable pace.

Around the halfway point, I started to feel the heat. It was definitely warmer than I was used to. I made sure to grab water at every aid station and poured some over my head to cool down. I saw a few people drop out around this point, but I was determined to keep going.

The last few miles were brutal. My legs were screaming, and my lungs were burning. But I knew I was close. I focused on putting one foot in front of the other and kept reminding myself why I started this journey in the first place.

It wasn’t a record-breaking time, but it was a personal best. And that’s all that mattered to me.
