Okay, so, I’ve been digging into the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback history, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I started by looking up who has even played QB for this team. Turns out, there have been 40 different starting quarterbacks in their whole history! Can you believe that? Forty! I mean I knew that teams change players but forty seems a lot!

I began listing them all out. I found out that only two guys, George Mira and Tyler Thigpen, started just one game for the Dolphins. I guess they weren’t cut out for Miami.
Then, I moved on to figuring out when the Dolphins actually started as a team. Apparently, they kicked things off in 1966. Their first starting quarterback was Dick Wood, and their first game was against the Oakland Raiders. I tried to picture what it must have been like back then. Old-school football, probably some really interesting games to see.
Some Big Names
- Bob Griese
- Dan Marino
I also found some information on the internet that the Dolphins have had some famous quarterbacks. You know, Bob Griese and, of course, Dan Marino. I’ve definitely heard those names before, especially Marino. Everyone says he is the best. Those two are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They must have been incredible to watch in their prime. It was not hard to find a lot of information about Marino and Griese. They were everywhere on the internet.
It’s been a fun deep dive into the Dolphins’ past. I always like learning the history of teams that have been around for a long time. So much has changed since 1966. It’s cool to look back and see how things were. It’s quite a list of quarterbacks. Some good, some maybe not so much. But it is fun to know who they are!
