Okay, so, the Mexico national team’s logo? It’s gotten a makeover, the first time in like, 33 years. I remember hearing about this a while back and thought, “Let’s see what they did.”
First thing I did was check out the official announcement. Turns out, they did this whole reveal at the Aztec Stadium. Fancy, right? The Federation announced this new rebranding, I think it’s like the seventh one in their history. They called it a “rebranding.”
So, I dug around to see what people were saying. Some were into it, some weren’t. You know how it goes with any big change. The new logo, it’s pretty different. The name “MEXICO” is way bigger now, and the eagle’s more, like, abstract. They really changed up the shape of the whole thing. They said they wanted to keep the good stuff from the old logos but also make it look modern for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
I spent some time comparing the old and new logos. It’s a big change, for sure. The old one felt more traditional, I guess. This new one, it’s bolder. I can see what they mean about making it more modern.
Then, I tried to find out who actually designed it. No luck there, but I did see that the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) President, some guy named Yon De Luisa, talked about why they changed it. He said something like, “It was time to recognize the past but also modernize.” Pretty standard corporate talk, but okay.
- Looked at the official announcement of the logo change.
- Compared the old and new logos side-by-side.
- Searched for reactions online – mixed bag, as usual.
- Tried to find the designer – no dice.
- Read Yon De Luisa’s explanation for the change.
This whole thing got me thinking about how often teams and companies do this kind of rebranding. It’s always a gamble, right? You want to keep up with the times, but you also don’t want to mess with something that people love. They said something about a breakdown in relationship between the players and some coach named Halilhodzic on a Japanese team once, causing them to change things up. I guess it happens!

My Thoughts
Personally, I’m still getting used to the new Mexico logo. It’ll take some time to grow on me, I guess. But I get why they did it. It’s all about staying fresh, I suppose. And hey, at least it’s something to talk about before the next World Cup, right?
It’s interesting how a simple logo can spark so much discussion. It’s more than just a picture, I guess. It’s about the team, the fans, the history, the whole shebang.
Anyway, that’s my little deep dive into the Mexico national team’s new logo. What do you guys think of it?
