So, I jumped into one of those Musgrove jersey giveaways recently. Saw it floating around, I think it was advertised during a game broadcast, or maybe it popped up online somewhere, hard to remember exactly where these things catch your eye sometimes.

Anyway, being a Padres fan, and liking Musgrove – the guy’s got grit, you know? – I thought, what the heck, might as well throw my name in the hat. Couldn’t hurt, right? Getting a free jersey sounded pretty good.
My Attempt at Winning
The process itself wasn’t too bad. Usually, these things make you jump through hoops, share this, tag that, write a novel about why you’re the biggest fan. This one seemed simpler. I followed the link, landed on a page. Pretty standard stuff.
Here’s basically what I did:
First, I had to find the actual entry form. Took a second, sometimes they hide it under a bunch of ads.
Then, I punched in my details. Name, email address. The usual drill. Always pause for a second wondering where this info ends up, but you do it anyway if you want a shot.

I think there was an option to sign up for a newsletter too. Skipped that. My inbox is cluttered enough as it is.
Double-checked I spelled my email right – made that mistake once, never again – and hit the submit button. And that was pretty much it. Sent my entry off into the digital void.
The Waiting Game and Outcome
After entering, you kind of just forget about it for a while. Life goes on. You watch the games, check the scores, but the giveaway isn’t top of mind.
Then, maybe a week or two later, I remembered. Started checking my email more often, even peeked into the spam folder just in case. You hear stories, right? Important stuff ending up there.
Saw some chatter online, people asking if the winner was announced yet. That usually means the drawing happened or is about to.

Well, long story short, no winning email for me. Didn’t get the jersey. Not really surprised, the odds are always crazy low on these big giveaways. Someone out there got lucky, though. Good on them.
It was worth a shot, took maybe five minutes. Still, would’ve been nice to rock a Musgrove jersey without having to buy it. Maybe next time, or maybe I’ll just finally break down and get one myself.
