Okay, so I watched The Judge a while back. Decent flick, but what really got me was the music. You know how sometimes a movie’s score just hits right? That happened here. There were these pieces, especially during the more emotional scenes, that just stuck in my head.
After the movie ended, I kept thinking about that music. It wasn’t like loud pop songs, more like atmospheric stuff, piano and strings maybe? Hard to describe exactly, but it had a certain feel. So, I decided I needed to find it.
My first step, usually, is just to try and remember any specific song titles mentioned in the credits, but I missed that chance, or maybe they weren’t listed clearly. So, I went searching online. Just basic stuff, typed in things like “music from the movie the judge” or “who did the score for the judge”.
Took a little bit of clicking around. You get all sorts of results, reviews, discussions, but I was looking for the composer or an actual soundtrack listing. After poking around on a few pages detailing the movie’s production info, I saw the name Thomas Newman mentioned for the original score. That name sounded familiar, I think he’s done a lot of movie music.
Right, so having the composer’s name was the key. Made the next search much easier. Looked specifically for “Thomas Newman the judge soundtrack”. And bingo, found out there was an official soundtrack album released. Wasn’t too hard to track down once I knew what I was looking for.
Got myself a copy of the album. Been listening to it quite a bit since then. It’s got that specific mood from the film. Tracks like, I think one is called ‘Woodstock?’, really capture that small-town, complicated family vibe. It’s good background music for working or just thinking.
So yeah, that was my little journey finding that soundtrack. Started with just a feeling from the movie, did some basic searching, found the composer, and then located the album. Pretty straightforward process this time, glad I took the time to look it up.
