Must read

Okay, let’s talk about getting from Philly to Sacramento. It feels like crossing the whole darn country, and well, it kinda is.

Deciding and Booking

So, I needed to get out to Sac. Had some stuff to take care of, you know how it is. First thing was booking the flight. Spent some time poking around online, looking at prices. You see all sorts of weird routes sometimes, but I just wanted something that made sense. Didn’t want to spend two days traveling. Found a flight, I think it was American, maybe United? Can’t recall offhand. Booked it. Done. Felt good to have that sorted.

Getting to PHL

Then came the actual travel day. Getting to Philadelphia International Airport. Always a joy, right? Traffic around Philly can be a nightmare. I decided against driving myself and parking. Too much hassle, costs a fortune. Got a ride instead. Dropped me off right at the terminal. Way easier. Saved myself the headache of finding a spot and then dragging my bags for miles.

Inside Philly Airport

Alright, inside PHL. It’s big, it’s busy. First hurdle: security. You know the drill. Shoes off, laptop out, liquids in the tiny bag. It wasn’t too bad this time, line moved okay. Some folks always look like they’ve never flown before, holding everything up, but whatever. Made it through.

Found my gate. Had some time to kill. Grabbed a coffee and one of those sad airport sandwiches. Cost way too much, naturally. Just sat there watching people hustle and bustle. Airports are strange places, everyone going somewhere different.

The Flight Itself

Boarding time. Got on the plane, found my seat. Middle seat. Of course. Always feels like a gamble, who you end up next to. This time wasn’t too bad, folks kept to themselves mostly. The flight was long, gotta be honest. Felt every hour. Tried to sleep, watched a movie on my phone, looked out the window at clouds. The usual routine to pass the time.

  • Takeoff: Pretty smooth leaving Philly.
  • In the air: Had a bit of bumpiness somewhere over the middle of the country, but nothing crazy.
  • Service: Flight attendants came by with drinks and those tiny bags of pretzels. Standard stuff.

You just kinda zone out after a while. Staring at the seatback in front of you. Wishing you were there already.

Arrival in Sacramento

Finally, we started descending into Sacramento. Landing was smooth. Always a relief to feel the wheels hit the ground. Getting off the plane took its usual sweet time. Everyone stands up immediately, even though you know you aren’t going anywhere for ten minutes.

SAC airport felt way more chill than PHL. Smaller, less chaotic. Walked over to baggage claim. Waited around. Saw my bag eventually pop out onto the carousel. Grabbed it. Success!

Leaving SAC Airport

Stepped outside. Felt that California air. Different vibe altogether. Had arranged for a ride, so just had to find them. Spotted my pickup, threw my bag in the back, and off we went. Felt good to be out of the airport and finally, properly, in Sacramento.

So yeah, that was the trek. Philly to Sac. Long day, bit tiring, but made it in one piece. Job done.
