Getting Started with Lexi Miss Basics
I grabbed Lexi Miss Basics last Tuesday because this newbie from work kept bugging me about how to set it up. Figured I’d test it myself and scribble down the steps. First thing? Went to their download page – total nightmare finding that big green “Download” button. Took like three minutes scrolling past flashy ads.
The damn installer froze midway. Got this spinning circle that wouldn’t quit. Rebooted my crappy laptop, crossed my fingers, and tried again. Second time worked okay-ish. Had to click through fifteen “Next” buttons. Seriously, why so many? Felt like clicking through a government website.
Setting Up My Profile
Opened the app and it screamed at me to create a profile. Profile photo first – skipped it ’cause my webcam makes me look like a potato. Typed in “DaveTheTester” for username. Password thing was weird though:
- Wanted 12 characters minimum
- Demanded one emoji (???!)
- Made me include a math symbol
Ended up with “Pizza$lice123🤔”. Whatever works.
First Feature Test Run
Clicked the “Magic Wand” icon they hype everywhere. Screen went purple for five whole seconds – thought it crashed again. Then this cartoon owl popped up asking “What troubles you?”. Typed “How do I exit this stupid owl?”. Owl just blinked. Had to force close the whole app.
Reloaded and tried the text scanner instead. Pointed my phone camera at a coffee stain on my desk. App said: “Analysis: Brown liquid residue. Recommendation: Use napkin.” Groundbreaking stuff. Next scanned my cat – got “Unidentified furry object” and three ads for pet shampoo.
Final Disaster & Fix
Wanted to change the ugly default theme. Found settings buried under three hamburger menus. Changed color to blue and hit save. Screen flashed like a disco light then went COMPLETELY BLACK. Panicked for two minutes until I remembered the undo shortcut. Slammed Ctrl+Z like my life depended on it. Colors came back looking like a 90s geocities site but hey, functional.
Logged out feeling like I’d wrestled a bear. Still can’t figure out what the owl does. But the text scanner? That coffee stain analysis? Worth the headache? Maybe for absolute beginners who’ve never touched an app before. Just keep Ctrl+Z handy.
