Today, I wanted to share my experience with trying out the Fujita golf swing. I’ve been playing golf on and off for a few years, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my game. I heard about this swing technique and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I did some digging and got to work.

Getting Started

Practicing the Basics

I started by trying to get my posture right. I made sure I was standing tall with my feet shoulder-width apart and my knees slightly bent. Then, I focused on my grip. I held the club lightly but firmly, like I was shaking hands with it, to make sure that I didn’t hurt my wrists.

Next up was the backswing. I tried to extend the club away from me as much as possible while keeping my head still. This was tougher than it looked! My body wanted to move all over the place, but I kept reminding myself to keep my head steady. It felt a bit awkward at first, but I started to get the hang of it after a few tries.

I wrapped the towel around my waist and tried to swing, focusing on rotating my body instead of just using my arms. It felt weird, but it really helped me understand how much my body should be turning. I had my wife watch to make sure that I was doing it correctly, and she mentioned that she noticed the difference in my swing.

Another drill I tried was the “snap downs” exercise. I stood on my toes and practiced swinging down, trying to generate power from the ground up. It was a good workout for my legs, and I could feel the difference in my swing. This was one of my favorites because it was just like a regular workout!

Then, I hit 20 normal shots but did five exaggerated swing rehearsals before each one. Finally, I hit 20 shots with my full routine.

  • Slow Motion Shots: This was surprisingly hard. It’s tough to move that slowly and still maintain a good swing. It felt kind of funny doing it.
  • Exaggerated Rehearsals: This part was a bit easier. I felt like I was really grooving the swing into my muscle memory. I could see my friend who was watching me, trying hard not to laugh at my exaggerated movements.
  • Full Routine Shots: By the time I got to this part, my swing felt more natural and fluid. I was hitting the ball more consistently, and it felt great. I was surprised by how much of a difference this rule made in my game.

Putting It All Together

After a few weeks of practicing these techniques and drills, I started to see some real improvements in my game. My swing felt more powerful and consistent, and I was hitting the ball straighter and farther. My friends started commenting on my improvement as well.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were days when I felt like I was taking two steps back for every step forward. But I kept at it, and eventually, things started to click. I even got compliments from other golfers at the driving range, which was a nice confidence boost. They asked me what I had been working on, and I was happy to share my experience with the Fujita swing and the drills I had been doing.
