Alright, so I’ve been wanting to mess around with this “Joe Madden Baseball” thing for a while now. I’m a huge baseball fan, and, well, who doesn’t love Joe Madden? So, I finally decided to dive in and see what I could do with it.
First thing I did was, you know, I just went and started searching to see that there is a program to download, so I just play around to get to the actual baseball game part. I started a new game, picked my teams – went with the Cubs, naturally – and just started playing.
The initial interface, it’s pretty straightforward. Nothing too fancy, just your basic baseball setup. You got your field, your players, the score, all that good stuff.
- Picking my lineup: This was fun. I spent a good amount of time moving guys around, trying to figure out the optimal batting order and field positions. I’m no expert, but I like to think I know a thing or two.
- Pitching: So, I’m on the mound, and I’m trying to figure out the pitching controls. It wasn’t immediately obvious, Took me a few pitches to get the hang of it. I ended up throwing a few wild ones, walked a batter… It happens.
- Hitting: Stepping up to the plate, I was feeling pretty good. I swung at a few, missed a couple, but then – bam! – I connected. It wasn’t a home run, but it was a solid hit. Got a runner on base. Progress!
I played through a few innings, just getting a feel for the game. I made some substitutions, tried out different pitchers, that kind of thing.
I’m happy that, I finally got this up and running. It was something I’d been meaning to do, and it was satisfying to actually make it happen. Now, it’s time to, like, really play the game.
