This James Cook fantasy thing, I hear folks talking ’bout it all the time. Seems like a big deal, this fantasy football. They say this James Cook, he’s a good one. He plays for that Buffalo Bills team, runs with the ball real good, they say. I seen him on the TV, he’s a fast one, that’s for sure.
They say you gotta pick players for your own team, like you’re the big boss. You get points when they do good, like when they run far or catch the ball. This James Cook, he gets lots of points, I hear. He runs a lot, they say, gonna run ’bout as much as that Singletary fella did last year. That’s a whole heap of runnin’, 177 times or so, and 38 catches, they are talking.
- They say you gotta pick a runner first, they call it RB.
- Then a catcher, that’s WR.
- Then you need a QB, that’s the one throws the ball.
- And a TE, don’t know what that is, but you need one of them too.
This here James Cook fantasy, it’s a lot to keep track of. They got all these names, like this Jared Smola fella. They say he’s real good at pickin’ the right players. He picks who’s gonna be good after they been hurt or somethin’. They call it “Comeback Player”, like they comin’ back from the dead or somethin’. He picked that Kupp fella in 2021, and Barkley in 2022. Sounds like he knows what he’s doin’.
They say this Cook fella, he got more playin’ time after they got that Joe Brady to tell ’em what to do. After that, they say he was gettin’ 15 points a game. That’s a lot of points, I reckon. This James Cook fantasy thing, it’s like a whole other world, ain’t it?
They say you gotta watch out for injuries, too. If your player gets hurt, you don’t get no points. And you can trade players with other folks, like tradin’ chickens at the market. It’s all a big game, I guess. They got experts, too, more than a hundred of ’em, tellin’ you who to pick. This James Cook fantasy, it takes a lot of thinkin’, more than I got in my old head.
This year, they say the Bills got another runner, some young fella named Ray Davis. They say he’s pretty good, too, been doin’ good in the summer. But this Cook fella, he’s still the main one, I reckon. He’s the one you want on your team if you’re playin’ this James Cook fantasy game.
They even talk about somethin’ called a “Commissioner’s Exempt List.” Sounds mighty official. Like the Sheriff puttin’ someone in the jailhouse. Apparently, it means some players can be off the team for a couple games, somethin’ to do with the Cowboys, I think. It’s all very confusing to me.
My grandson, he plays this James Cook fantasy thing. He’s always on that computer, lookin’ at numbers and stuff. He says it’s fun. He tried to explain it to me, but it’s just a bunch of numbers and names. I told him I’d stick to my garden. At least I understand that. You plant a seed, it grows, you get some food. Simple as that.
But these young folks, they like these games. They like this James Cook fantasy thing. They say it’s excitin’. I guess it is, in a way. It’s like watchin’ a game, but you’re part of it somehow. You are betting on whether these young men are gonna run good or not.
So, if you’re gonna play this game, you better listen to them experts. They seem to know what they’re talkin’ ’bout. And they all say this James Cook, he’s a good one. So, you might wanna pick him for your team. He might just win you the whole thing. But then again, what do I know? I’m just watchin’ from the sidelines, tryin’ to keep up with all these newfangled things. This James Cook fantasy sure is somethin’, ain’t it?

But times change, I reckon. And these young folks, they got their own ways. This fantasy football is their way, with James Cook fantasy being a big part of it.
